One of those airlines that is working under bankruptcy? I hope you understand what I am saying. I am trying to buy travel insurance and it states that it does not cover any travel provider that is currently working under bankruptcy?

Thank you!

No, they came out of bankruptcy last fall after their merger with America West.

So, after all is said and done, only American Airlines has never gone through bankruptcy, right?

For the six remaining legacy carriers (American, Continental, Delta, Northwest, United, and US Airways), the answer is yes. Only American Airlines has never gone through bankruptcy.

American now includes some of the routes, aircraft, and other assets acquired from the TWA bankruptcy a few years ago. So, in an indirect way, there is at least one bankruptcy on AA's past — but I wouldn't count that against AA.

Southwest is not considered one of the legacy carriers. Southwest has a long history of profitability, even when other airlines were suffering. And Southwest has never gone through bankruptcy. There are also a bunch of smaller airlines that have never gone through bankruptcy.
