Just wondering if US Airways/america west is an official airline that if we get luggage tags for ME service, will they pick up our bags and deliver them to the room??

also, when leaving, can we drop them at desk and not have to worry about them. only thing is our return flight leaves at 7:23 am, so how will that work? what time will we have to be up and ready to go to airport?

thanks.

For the 1,893,412th time ;) ALL airlines "participate" when you're flying into MCO. Put the DME tags on your luggage; check it in at your home airport; fly to Orlando; get off the plane; proceed to the Welcome Center; check in; board your assigned bus; get off at your resort. Within a few hours, your checked luggage will magically appear in your room - you don't have to be there, you don't need to wait for it, you don't have to tip anyone. See the "What Participating Airline Means" sticky at the top of this forum for more information.

Also... you cannot utilize resort bag check-in at your hotel if your morning flight leaves before 8 am. You must check your bags 3 hours before flight and the check-in desks do not open until 5 am.

You will need to bring your luggage with you on the ME bus and check it in at the airport as you usually would.

Anyone on any airline will have their checked bags automatically delivered to their resort room, as long as they put the special DME tags on their checked bags.

On the way back home, THAT'S where airline matters. The baggage check-in service is called Resort Airline Check-in (RAC), and it's actually a separate service from DME. USAirways doesn't participate in RAC, so you can't check your bags at the resort; you'll have to take them to the DME bus and then the driver will load them under the bus, and then unload them for you at the airport. From there, you take them to your airline like you would at any other airport.

If you want to call it good news, there's good news for you about the fact that USAirways doesn't participate in RAC. RAC is open only from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and by TSA regulations luggage can be checked in no earlier than 12 hours prior to flight and no later than 3 hours prior to flight. Since your flight leaves at 7:23 a.m., you wouldn't be eligible for RAC even if USAirways were a participating airline -- because RAC can't handle flights that depart between 1:01 a.m. and 7:59 a.m.

No one should confuse this with DME. DME, in both directions, is a 24/7 operation, with no restrictions due to flight arrival or departure times.
