Is today teacher appreciation day? UPDATE...yes it is.

Just wondering if it is an "official" teacher appreciation day today? My calendar doesn't say anything.

I know it is staff appreciation week here in our district. I plan to bring flowers to the teacher today.
So does anyone else here do that?

National Teacher Day
May 6, 2003 will be National Teacher Day, a time for honoring teachers and recognizing the lasting contributions they make to our lives. National Teacher Day is always the Tuesday of the first full week of May, so the actual date varies from year to year. That whole week -- this year May 4-10 -- is designated Teacher Appreciation Week by the National PTA. It's a time to strengthen support and respect for teachers and the teaching profession. The history of Teacher Day goes back to 1944.

Its all this week as far as I know. Tomorrow the Student Government is hosting a breakfast for staff/faculty... and the Educational Assistant dinner is tomorrow night as well.

Our pto is having a dinner for all the teachers tomorrow. I didn't get anything special for Kelsea's teacher, although I probably should.

DS's school is having a luncheon for the teachers tomorrow. Parents were asked to either volunteer to set up, serve, clean up or to make food to bring in. Im in charge of chicken salad finger sandwiches.

We're doing little things all week with a luncheon on Thursday. Today they're getting candy - $10,000 Bars. I've got e-mails stacked a mile high this morning from all the last minute people for lunch on Thursday. They were supposed to let me know by Monday what they were bringing so I pretty much expected this!

I'm not doing anything separate for my kid's teachers. They know I appreciate them! We have 68 people on staff so it's a busy week!

What a lovely idea! We don't have teacher days here in the UK. Maybe if we had a special day, I could spend a day in work without a kid smart-mouthing me! Then again, maybe I'm hoping for too much

All week here in Ma too. The parent's group at our school is doing a Teacher Appreciation Luncheon on Thursday. They're having it in the library of all places!! Not sure how I'm going to have classes in there now.
