Is this walking a reservation?

So since the 11 month window opened up I have been for days trying to book a standard view Boardwalk studio. I’m flexible on dates. Every morning I go to book and the first day that you can book is not available and the next nights are. So for example today being October 2nd the 2nd of Sept 2024, is not available but the 3rd-7th are. Since the Sept 2nd isn’t available I can’t book anything. I have been trying since the end of last month and been on at 8am maybe a few minutes after. And every day the first night is booked and the later dates aren’t.
Is this some people “walking” a reservation? I have heard the term but never understood it.
is there a way I can book a Boardwalk view for the one night then get the standard view for the other nights? I have tried this but since it’s not Oct 3rd yet I can’t book the Boardwalk view for one night then the other nights Standard view??
Any suggestions here to help I’m totally flexible with dates and have the points for a Boardwalk view but if I can save the 5 points a night I would like to

You should be able to book 14 days from the 11 month window.... so today you should be able to book a trip from septmeber 2 to 16....

walking, if I understand correctly, would be booking today for Sept 2 - 16 when i really want Oct 1-15.... then tomorrow I would cancel the 2 and add the 16, etc. etc. etc.

That’s exactly what’s happening today September 2 wasn’t available but the days after were, yesterday sep1 wasn’t available but today it is and sept 2 isn’t so I can’t book Sept 2 thru the 16 because Sept 2 isnt available and if the first day isn’t Available you can’t book the dates after Because you can’t book for Sept 3 yet it’s over 11 months. This has been happening for 5 days now. I just want to get the nights in a row but we can’t because the 11 month date is always missing

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of walking..... I understand why people do it. But people do it because other people do it....

If i'm understanding you correctly, what you are describing is why I don't like the process...

Please understand I am not trying to “walk” a reservation I am just trying to get a reservation and save some points! If I could get any of the dates I would just book and stay those days

Sounds like walking. I would say to book your entire stat for the boardwalk view and check each day to modify or waitlist. If someone is indeed walking a reservation, your desired dates for a studio may open up by the time the person walking gets to book his/her desired dates. This happened for the third week of August 2024. What wasn’t available eventually became available.

You can book 7 nights when the 11 month window opens - so today you could book for a 9/2 check in w/ a 9/9 check out day. If you want more nights you have to add them on a few days later when the +7 window covers them.

Just hopped on the site & no glitch you can only book 9/2 - 9/9. I’d guess you’re booking a couple days after the 11 month window opens. Because I’m usually going for the very popular first week of Dec. I need to book the second my 11 month window opens, otherwise I might wait a few days & get all my nights at once.

It’s because you’re booking one at a time that you can book 8-12 days. The most anyone can book at 11 months is 7 nights, for instance on October 1 the most someone could book would be the nights of September 1-7, check out the 8th. But if that person waited until October 10 to book, they could book the nights of September 1-16, check out September 17.

Yes, you’re seeing walking, specifically you’re seeing the walkers walk by on their way to what they really want. In addition to the WL you have set up, you could book each individual night as it becomes available (today book September 1, tomorrow book September 2, etc.) until you have what you want. Then chat/email/call MS and have them put into a single reservation.

Then chat/email/call MS and have them put into a single reservation.

If doing the single-day booking each day instead of booking another category and waitlisting or stalking for desired category, is there a chance it doesn’t work out? If the walker stops at some point during the OP’s desired dates then OP would get the early dates but not the later dates. Is that right? I guess there’s no real way to forecast.

Yes, when following behind walkers, there are no guarantees of success. That’s why WL comes in handy. And stalking too.

You are limited to 7 days when booking exactly at the 11 month window, not 14.

If you wait a few days in, then it’s no problem to do more than 7 at once.

If you go in tomrrow and can Sept 2nd when you couldn’t get it today, then yes, people are walking

But, if the days you tried stay gone, then people are booking for actual stays.

You are trying for one of the hardest rooms during the lowest point month. Even if people did not try and accomplish walking, people would still be shut out.
