Is this true?? No discounts EVER on suites?

I said that in an earlier posting but should have clarified that our DU rep said that typically suites do not get discount codes that come out. I'm not sure if she meant all or some. I'd like to know.

AAA quoted me a package but couldn't apply their normal discount to the room portion if it's a suite at CSR.

So this may apply to CSR only?

I am just not sure but DU told me they would look and apply any discount code to the suite that they could.

I called directly to Disney reservations and was told that discounts such as AAA were never applied to any of the suite rates. I suppose that there could always be a Disney code that would work with them who knows. My guess is they don't mind if they are empty.

I just called this weekend to make a ressie at the Poly. There was nothing available. We tried GF. There were garden view rooms available. I asked about applying an AP rate or Florida resident rate. He said there were no Garden views available with the AP discount, but I could get the Walt Disney suite with an AP rate. I kindly passed and took the garden view.:)

The trip we just went on I got an upsell for Beach Club. I inquired about Poly and the only thing I was given the option of was the honeymoon suite. It was at the discounted rate but for whatever reason (guess the HM suite is only for 2 people) we would have had to rent 2 of them ... just a tad over budget ;) even with the discount lol.

Yes, it's true. The suites do change prices based on high and value season, but generally that's it.

We stayed at the GF in a 2 bedroom suite...let's just say each night was equal to one month's mortgage payment. :scared1: Grandpa footed the bill for that one so we could all stay together and he could spend time with the grandkids...obscenely expensive and no discounts!

And, may I add, we were really disappointed with the suite at GF. We were expected Deluxe hotel, and I would say our room was comparable to an average room at a Hilton hotel. It was certainly nice, and clean, but certainly NOT luxury. It is no Four Seasons. We stay at a lot of nice hotels, and wanted to stay at the nicest one in Disney--still, we weren't bowled over. (I hear they are putting a Four Seasons near Disney--can't wait to hear more about that and how it will affect Disney's so called "Deluxe" properties!)

That said, clearly Disney is having no problem filling these suites at these high rates!

PS--This year we're staying at Shades of Green, and our ENTIRE seven night stay, WITH the dining plan, is cheaper than one night in the suite at GF!

I got offered an AP discount on a suite at GF. Only $3000 a night. God only knows how much it was before the discount. :lmao:

The suites are key to Disney's convention business. If someone is holding a large convention, very often suites are given to the hosts at "no charge" or as an upgrade. They are also used by attendees to host events/display wares, etc. Especially at CSR, I would think suite discounts would be hard to come by.

I recently got AAA discount on honeymoon suite at WL - checking in Jan 1 for 9 nights.

Suites rarely go "on sale" at Disney. For any of you who might have been quoted a special rate of any kind on one (AP, code, etc), ask the reservationist what the regular rate would be for the same suite. I believe you will find it to be the very same. I'm not saying they never go on sale.....but it truely is a rare find. There has only been once that I can recall when suites were genuinely on sale......for the few months immediately after 9/11. I was fortunate enough to get a Garden Suite at BWI for only $169/nt. And even at that price.....there were very few people to be found anywhere. This was in November of 2001.

Hey, if you've qualified to stay at Shades of Green, you've more than earned your discount!

Have a great trip!

OMG....what a deal! Those are so lovely.

Ya, I have had CRO tell me I could get a certain suite (Walt/Roy etc) at GF for AP rate (and I get all excited!) and then when they quote me the price/nt :headache: & I ask what it would be w/out the discount it is exactly the same amt of money.

Honeymoon suites at the resorts and Garden suites at the BWI are not the same as the Presidential Suite, Grand Suite, or the Walt Disney Suite etc. These honeymoon suites & garden suites have AP and AAA rates. I believe the suites at the values also offer discounts.

Happy planning,

Lives4Disney :)

I occasionally see the suites at CSR come up on the passholder discounts on the Disney website, but usually if I'm browsing CSR, I'm not looking for an expensive room (even with a discount, they cost substantially more than a standard room). I have also seen a few CR suites come up, and the deluxe WL rooms (I once got a $135 rate for a deluxe WL room - that was sweet!).

Yes, The Family Suites at All Star Music have included in some of the discounts codes these last few months.

Have fun at Disney!:wizard:

Welcome to my world. (We are in the minority on the DIS!!!) I also was VERY disappointed in the GF. Deluxe?? NO!!!!! For right now if you want "deluxe" I recommend the Ritz Carlton. Generally cheaper then the GF and much better service and rooms! (Sorry but NO view is worth bad service at those prices LOL!)
