I have the QSDP. I have 2 TS charcter meal ressie booked. That I am paying OPP for. One for dinner at 1900 Park Fare and another for Akershus with the princesses for breakfast. I am thinking of booking some more breakfast meals. My question is will this be to much food if I book a breakfast a day? I won't book one for the day we go to PF for dinner. My family eats. I would say we are a bunch of grazing horses. LOL
Also if I booked 2 of those as charcter meals would that be too much charcters?

TIA

it's not too much food if your family will eat that much...you might want to look at the cost of changing your QSDP to the regular DDP since the regular plan would give you one Table Service & one Counter service a day...might be cheaper to pay for that plan & then buy the occasional extra counter service meal.

Welcome to the Dis!

With the QSDDP, you get two CS meals per night of stay and two snacks per night of stay. If you do a sit down breakfast, your CD credits can be used for lunch and dinner. You'll have three meals a day. You'll probably be okay, but a little full.

However, if you are looking to book a sit down breakfast everyday, why are you not upgrading to the regular DDP? It gets you a sit down meal, a counter service meal, and a snack per night of stay. With your hypothetical scenario, you're looking at a sit down meal per day. Just something to think about.

It WILL cost you more if you pay for all of those out of pocket.

I missed out on the FD deal and i am paying oop for the QSDP. It's only myself and my DD who is 8 almost 9. I would consider upgrading to DDP. Would I be hungry on that plan? I like the 2 snacks and the refillable mug. Plus my DD is a snacker. The DXDDP looks like WAY to much food. I thought paying oop for TS meals would be a happy medium.Would it be cheaper to upgrade and then pay oop for the CS meals and extra snacks. Help so many choices. I wish WDW had a create your own dining plan.

I think you will be fine on the QSDP and a few TS meals out of pocket.

With the QSDP you will have 2 snack credits a day each. You can get any of these with 1 snack credit: muffin, pastry, cereal and small milk, fruit. Use your refill mug to get coffee, tea, hot chocolate, ice tea, etc. You still have a snack credit left for a treat in the parks.

Depending on the #of TS you do out of pocket, you will still have the extra CS credits. You could grab a snack for a early breakfast, have a TS late breakfast (brunch), early dinner (CS) and a snack for later in the evening.

You actually have quite a few options on how to eat with just a few out of pocket TS meals. I don't think you will need to have one each day. You will probably have too many credits left over if you go to a TS each day and have the QSDP. How many days are you at WDW? My first trip we did 3 TS meals (no dining plans at that time) and had 5 days at WDW. That was enough TS for us. We did one breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I would book one more breakfast (cheaper) near the end of your trip. If you find you are going through the credits then keep the ADR, if you have lots of credits left then cancel it.

I also would advise against booking a TS breakfast every day. That really cuts in to your ability to do any rope drops. (Meaning, getting to the park when it opens to make the most of the morning hours.)

BUT - if you DO decide to book a TS everyday, then I would definitely upgrade to the regular DDP.

If you do only a couple TS meals, then OOP may be best.

If you like the idea of the refillable mug and are on regular DDP, you can just buy the refillable mug. It's still cheaper than paying OOP for a ton of TS meals.

Have you been on allears to check out the menus for all the Disney restaurants? If not, I suggest you head over there so you can see the menus (and prices) for every restaurant.

Since you are already planning on 2 TS meals you should definitely upgrade to the reg. DP. Your meals at 1900 & Akershus are approximately $110. You can upgrade to the reg. DP for $84 + it will include 2 more TS meals. Even if you buy refillable mugs & extra snacks you will be ahead than doing the QS plan.

I decided to upgrade to the DDP. It's only 60 dollars extra and it will save me 50 dollars. Plus give me 3 more TS meals. With drinks included with the meals I'm not sure if we will need the mugs but if I decide we need them I will come out cheaper paying oop for them. Same for the CS meals.
Thanks everyone for letting me pick your brain. I like to hear what others think and do.
