My DH thinks I'm crazy (fortunately loves me anyway), but this is something that irrationally infuriates me! I could never live in a house where we don't have our own driveway, because I'm a parking nazi.

Where we live now, we live right on the street -- there is no sidewalk. If someone parks in front of our house, they're going to block the front porch. We've only had the neighbors park there a couple of times, but each time I stewed quietly until they left. We do have a driveway that we share with a neighbor. They were always wonderful about staying on their own side, and now they're gone and we have the whole place to ourselves. Ahhhhh.

While it's perfectly legal, I'd say it's rude if there are plenty of other places to park other than in front of a strangers house, especially for an extended period of time.

You don't own the street in front of your house, but I think it's just common curtesy.

This has happened in front of my house - someone on the street I guess had vistors (take it there is plenty of room to park in front of all the homes on my street and EVERYONE has driveways to boot) after 48 hrs I called the cop said I don't know who owns it but it has not been moved - they came checked it for a stolen vehicle said it wasn't and not owned by anyone on the street - if still there 24 hrs later call again they will come tag it as abonded and 72 hrs after that it would be towed.
It left after 3 days and hasn't rtn....

I agree it is not illegal but VERY RUDE park in front of the house you are visitng not someone elses and make me look bad..Like I said EVERYOne on my street has a driveway that holds more than 1 car no need for street parking.

I do think it is rude. I have a neighbor who lives across the street from me who parks his car EVERY night in the EXACT center of the part of the street in front of my house. This might not annoy me so much, but he has a garage and a driveway of his own that he apparently does not choose to use. By parking in the exact center of the space in front of my house, he ensures that nobody visiting me can park either in front of him (would block next door neighbor's driveway) or behind him (would block my driveway).

I have been silently steaming for months, but have decided to just set up my son's basketball net right over where he parks this summer. I *hope* that he will then take the hint and move.

I had a home like this before. Since the spots aren't reserved--we were SOL if someone has a party and you came home from anywhere.

If it is violating the law in anyway-then definitely report it.

Yes, we park on the street. Its a corner house and I am on the corner side. Our neighbors on the other half get the front and hubby and I get the side. ( but carrying one kid in each arm would be so much easier if I parked out front ). They way my block is there is only one house behind me and they have a driveway but noone drives in that house.

Out of coutesy, I alwsy tell any company I get to park on the side behind my car so they dont take someone elses spot.

It's actually not a safe place. It's in the way of my across-the-street neighbor's driveway. It's the perfect place for my neighbor to hit this car if she were to pull out of her driveway.

My hubby had a car totaled that way. The neighbor backed out of her driveway.. never looks and hit a car coming down the street.. than floored it instead of hitting the breaks and nailed hubbys car.

Heck yeah it would bother me. Because I am dealing with the SAME thing. The neighbors across the street (not directly across - over one) do this. They have 2 cars in their driveway. And an extra car that I guess belongs to their teenager. He always parks in front of our house. They have room for 2 or 3 cars in front of their house but he never parks there - just always in front of ours. It drives me up the wall. Especially since our house is up for sale right now. If you're coming up the street from the other direction and he's parked there you cant see our sign very well. Right now the tree over the place where he parks is shedding really badly so he isnt parking there this week. But I know he'll be back as soon as it stops. I just dont know why he cant park in front of his own house. I might say something if he starts back again - since the house is for sale I think I have a good excuse for asking.

Yes, it would bug me. Our old neighbors had three drivers in the house and four cars, so the extra car was always parked in front of our house while the front of his house was completely empty. Their company would park in front of our house. Never could understand why they couldn't park in front of their own house.

We had the opposite problem at our old house. DH would park in the street in front of our house. Wasn't blocking anyone's drive. Was actually a spot where the road curved, so there was still room for two cars to pass each other. His truck was old and leaked oil, and he didn't want the oil to mess up the drive. Well, one day, a cop shows up at our door and says that we can't park there because it's against the law. Long story short, our next door neighbor (jerk!) called the police because we had "abandoned" the vehicle. Um, no - DH worked nights, so it was driven at night and parked during the day while he was sleeping. When the cop heard the real story, he said, "Oh, well, just park it in front of his house a couple of times then, so he'll see that it's being moved." He was kidding, but I really couldn't stand that neighbor. He was such a jerk!

Not only is it illegal to park on the street here (which is very inconvenient for us when we have company), but I have a nasty neighbor who makes it his lifes goal to do everything he can to make other people miserable. He would love nothing more than to have a car towed (even if it were parked for 10 minutes).

Yes, it would bother me, if it were an extended period of time. If anything, I would prefer someone to ask permission.

our neighbors parked there junk car they haven't driven since last fall with a for sale sign in front of my house and left for the weekend...we called the cops, it just sits on the street and they move it back and forth!

Yeah it would bug me too, especially for that long. Everyone around here who lives here mainly parks in front of their own houses and company does the same. We are lucky in some ways because we live across the street from a park so there are only houses on our side of the street which frees up a lot of space when you are having a party or whatever.

On the other hand, in the summer we sometimes get big groups of people who come to meet at the park and then they will often park in front of our house. The main problem I have with that is that then my kids cannot see to cross the street very well. We live on a hill on a curve so it is hard anyway, but then you get this big SUV out there and no way can they do it. I also get quite ticked when they park on my grass.

It would and has bugged me. Our neighbors had I don't know how many people living/staying with them and about 4 cars there. They had no drive way and would line the cars up and one would end up directly in front of our house. We had a driveway that we parked in at the time. (A very small driveway, I called it a parking spot as I'm not sure it would really count as a full on driveway.)

My dh started parking in the road and blocked the car in. So when the guy was ready to go anywhere he'd have to move at least one of their cars to get out. Finally after dh doing this 2 or 3 times they got the hint and started lining up their cars in the other direction. Which was in front of no ones house as they didn't even have a neighbor on that side of them. I think that was one of the reasons it bugged us so much.
