Is this right? Pool hopping?

As DVCers, we are entitled to pool hop if we are staying on property at a DVC resort, is that correct (with the usual BCV and Animal Kingdom exceptions)? So, if we have friends who are not DVC members, staying at a non-DVC resort, we would be able to go there and spend time by the pool with them but they can't use our pool. Am I understanding the rules correctly?

That seems to be correct. If you could add them to your reservation without going over the room occupancy limit they could also use your pool, although some find this not a proper thing to do. It would not give them pool hopping to other pools however as they would not have a blue member card to show if asked.

While non-DVC resort guests are not "allowed" to pool hop, if your DVC Resort pool isn't crowded, I would ask at your front desk if your friends could visit you and use the pool. They may say yes during non-peak resort times, or they may say no, but there is no harm in asking. As long as it is only a handful of people, and not a bus load.

But if you are staying at BCV or AKV, I would absolutely assume they could not join you.

They do sometimes make exceptions for guests staying at different resorts to go to pools together. They would frown on the rest of the h.s. band that's staying at All Start Sports joining you at the GF pool but a family of four is usually permitted to join another friend at the friend's resort.

Thanks for the replies folks - it would literally only be one evening so the kids could swim while we adults relaxed by the pool. We will probably be staying at OKW or SSR so, hopefully, it won't be too much of an issue.
