Hi everyone,
Was wondering if you could help me out with something. Having never been to a big theme park on the scale of disneyworld or anything else for that matter before i wanted to ask about whether a certain schedule would be possible. Forgive my cluelessness, we only have one theme park in NZ (Rainbow's End) and i wouldn't even come close to half a days entertainment! So here goes. I'm going to have 2 days in Orlando next year in May. I am going to go to Disneyland in california at the start of my vacation and therefore will not be going to the Magic Kingdom at WDW. I would love to do both but time just doesn't allow. My plan is to do Animal kingdom until around 2pmish then head over to MGM. At MGM i mainly want to ride Tower of Terror, great movie ride, backlot tour, muppets 3d, indiana jones and possilby voyage of the little mermaid. Hopefully i will have seen Fantasia in California so i can skip it at WDW. So my question is after doing both AK and MGM, would it be possible to go from MGM to Epcot to ride Soarin'. The ride sounds amazing and i'm totally happy if it was the only thing i did at EPCOT. Will time allow for this or is it totally crazy and not possible. I should also mention it would be a sunday (the 20th May) and it will be myself and a freind (both aged 21, no one else in tow). On the second day we are planning on attempting to do US and IOA in the same day. I know we're probably crazy but we're so excited and want to see as much as possible.

Thanks for your help. This board is awesome.

Hitting AK, MGM, and EPCOT all in one day will probably be impossible. You might could swing it...but I doubt it. AK and MGM in one day (hitting just the highlights) could be done. You have to keep in mind that the shows at MGM are at set times so if you really want to see the shows you'll have to plan a lot of stuff around those set times. Will you be flying from L.A. to Orlando on that Sunday or will you be arriving in Orlando on Saturday?

:faint: Wow, that is a schedule. :cool1:

Welcome to the DIS, abbey.

I suppose you could do it, young and healthy, LOL. WDW is big. But certainly doable.

You will need a hopper option on your tickets to go to different parks in the same day, just an FYI. Can you do DCA in CA, Soarin' there too. Also, Fantasmic! at the two parks are totally different, again, just an FYI.

I think you are up to the challenge. :thumbsup2

From what I've read, the fast passes to Soarin' run out very early. After your aggressive schedule (AK then MGM), I'm not sure whether you will be able to get to Soarin' without a very long wait. You might be able to pop into Epcot and pick another ride quickly. I'm sure others will have ideas.

Wow! Universal and IOA the other day. I am tired just reading the grand tour you have set up for yourself - but I vaguely remember being 21 once upon a time and you just might get to do it all! :thumbsup2

thanks for the tips everyone, keep them coming. I am actually travelling from Anaheim to Newyork on a contiki tour which goes for 28 days called the grand southern. Towards the end of the trip we have two free days in Orlando so i would be at Disneyland 4th May (a thursday i think) and then Disneyworld on 20th May (a sunday).

I think you would be better off to go to Epcot 1st thing in the morning to do Soarin'. then go to Animal Kingdom & MGM if you want to get it all in. That way you would probably be able to walk on to Soarin', go right back out the front entrance to grab a bus to AK. If you have some time left after MGM you could walk or take the boat back over to Epcot to hit a few more attractions or Iluminations, or maybe just spend some time at the Boardwalk (ESPN Club, Jellyroll etc) Have fun!

Are you staying in an on-site resort? If so, check out the extra magic hours for the parks for those days. It would be great if Epcot had an evening EMH and you could stay 3 hours after the park closed. Then you could get it all in...otherwise it'll be a little tough.

We did 3 parks in one day, 2 years ago. We started at MGM and hit ToT, RnR and Muppet Ride (riding each several times). Then went over to MK to hit all our favorites and have lunch till around 4pm, then over to EPCOT for the rest of the day, this was when Mission Space was first open, but DH did the single rider line and waited no time at all.

Since you want to do Soarin, I would probably hit EPCOT first, since I've heard this gets packed, then do AK and end the day with MGM.

It can be tiring, so get plenty of rest.

ENJOY!

WOW that's a tall order. i think the first thing you have to find out is what the hours are for the parks. when the may calendar comes out on the disney site. check it out. in addition as one poster mentioned will you be staying at a disney resort so that you can utilize the extra magic hours.

one disadvantage is that you will be there on a sunday which means the locals will be there too. usually most of may is a good time to go. crowds but very manageable.

so i think your schedule really depends on whether you are using emh and the park hours. i know at this time sunday is usually a magic kingdom emh in the evening. but that can change.

imo i think you should do as one poster already mentioned--soarin first.
then hop to ak and do expedition everest, tough to be a bug and dinosaur. kilimanjaro safari and festival of lion king if you have time.

since you seem to want to do the most at mgm i'd do that last and do as many as possible with tower of terror being first.

also the above attractions at ak and epcot with exception of lion king and kilimanjaro are quicker rides(when you get on). the attractions at mgm tend to take longer because they are more involved like backlot tour, indiana jones, little mermaid. i'd say get the quicker ones done first then linger in mgm.

but maybe others have better ideas. also use fastpass when necessary but always check the return time BEFORE you get the pass

whatever, have fun and enjoy

Doubtful. Depends when youre going. I forgot when you said, but itd have to be either in the middle of hurricane season. Ive been there in April and May and tho not like June or February, it is crowded and the rides you mention will have lines. Lets put it this way, I was there between Aug 21 and Aug 24. We had a reservation at the Bippity Boppity Boutique for my 5 year old girl...the res was 1 hour late! We went from Downtown D to MGM -- between waiting for the bus and arriving at the MGM gate took another 45 minutes. We went directly to Voyage of the LM. The line was long. The next show was 45 minutes later. So we stood in line to wait. Then we went to Fantasmic. Waited again in line to get in and were one of the last ones to be seated. In short, we spent 3 hours INSIDE MGM and went to ONE attraction, plus ended the night at the Fantasmic show. I would say it will tak eyou 3 hours to do Tower of Terror and Voyage of LM alone. Figure a 30 minute wait at least in line for LM, a 20 min show, then another 10 to 15 minutes to get out of the show, get your bearings, and head to wherever else you plan on going.

it is the exact same experience, and it would be ALOT easier for you to hop from DL to DCA than going to Epcot!!!!!!
