i just had an idea for a plan for 2 parks in 2 days and I wondered if you guys thought it would work. Since 2 of my kids are little and 1 is older, DH and I were thinking of getting the 2 day pass for us and DD9 and 1 day 2 park pass for DDs 4 & 2 and my mom. DH, DD9 and I would go on one day and do the thrill rides at US and IOA and then the whole family would go back the next day and do the kiddie stuff like Seuss and Barney etc. Do you think thats a do-able plan?

Hi, Tara

First, your family is just beautiful! What nice pictures :)

I think just about anything is doable if you put your mind to it, but there's so much to do in between "thrill rides" and "kiddie rides." What day are y'all going to do Shrek and Terminator and Twister? What day are y'all going to do Posidean's Adventure?

If it were me, I'd still plan on two days, one for USO, one for IOA, and bring the whole fam on both days. Have cell phones if y'all want to split up here or there for a particular ride or show.

FWIW, I don't do thrill rides, but my hubby does, and there's always something really fun for me to do close by to a thrill ride while I'm waiting, i.e., cooling off in Finnegan's while DH is on Mummy, hanging out with Spidey and doing some shopping while he's on the Hulk, walking around all the mysterious shops around Dueling Dragons, etc.

I'm thinking of your mom, too. I learned long ago...NEVER TICK OFF MOM!!! While my mom doesn't do coasters or anything "pukable," she'd be way ticked off if she couldn't do Shrek or Terminator and was confined to only kiddie stuff. Although, my Mom would enjoy a day at a high-end spa more than a theme park. A happy balance can be tough, eh?

Hope you have a great time with whatever you decide to do!!!

Awww, thanks, that's so nice. Those pics represent a REALLY good time from last year. What you suggested was our original plan. We were gonna do 1 park each day. Then my mom was saying that she would rather not sit around and wait for us to go on rides that the little ones couldn't(and she won't even try). Also, she didn't want to take them to a "kiddie area" afraid that they'll run her crazy. As for the "middle rides" we were just going to save some things for another trip. I'll give you an idea of what we would do:

"Thrill Day"
Mummy, Hulk, Dueling Dragons, Men in Black, Back to the Future, and Jurassic Park

"Family Day"
ET, Curiuos Gearoge, Jaws, Earthquake, Barney, Fievel, Flying Unicorn, Seuss, Woody Woodpecker coaster.
Also, DD9, Dh and I were going to get Express Passes with the $ we would be saving from the 1 day tickets.

I know it's not ideal, we would love to see all that we could, but for this trip, we know we can't. So keeping in mind that those are the things we have scheduled and we know we'll be missing alot, what do you think?

Tara,

I think the plan is fine but the ticket situation is what's a little off.

With Universal's Kids Play Free deal, you'd purchase 3 5-day tickets for $99 (you, your husband and your mom) and receive 3 Free Childs 5-day tickets. Since one of your children is 2 and gets in Free anyway, that leaves you with an extra free ticket for later use.

That means your whole family can spend both days in Universal for $300.

These tickets can only be purchased online though so make sure you buy them before you go. I think with these tickets, it'd be a lot more flexible. Mom and the smaller kids can even enjoy the kids stuff on both days. There's a lot to do for kids in Universal, like Animal Planet Live!, A Day in the Park with Barney, Curious George Goes To Town, Woody Woodpeckers Nuthouse Coaster (for 36"+), E.T. Adventure, Fievel's Playland, Shrek 4D, Jimmy Neutron's Nicktoon Blast (for 40"+)..

They could also meet Shrek, Donkey and Princess Fiona, the characters of Madagascar, Spongebob Squarepants, Dora The Explorer, Jimmy Neutron, etc. There's also a Bikini Bottom themed Spongebob interactive play area which can be entered by exiting the Jimmy Neutron ride or through the Nickstuff shop.

That's not even including Islands!

Yeah, I see your point. I defintely planned to buy tickets before we go anyway. When you have 3 kids, the more you can do ahead of time, the better. BTW, I love the pic in your sig. I'd love to be on that beach right now! NJ weather is not great this week. And I'll take one of whatever you've got in that cup too. Thanks for your help
