Is this plan too ambitious?

One day on our upcoming trip (May 5), my parents plan to watch my girls for an evening so my husband and I can have a date night. During the day we plan to go to Epcot, and do a quick look around the world.

For the evening, we hope to do 3 things.

1. Go back "around the world"...mostly to check out the gift shops we are most interested in (since the kids won't be patient with this earlier in the day)

2. Go to DHS to ride Rockin Rollercoaster and maybe ToT (if line isn't too long, since we do have FP for it the next day).

3. Go to Animal Kingdom to ride EE and Dinosaur

We are hoping to leave POR around 3, and have the whole evening.

Does this seem possible, or way too cramped of a schedule? Also, if you have suggestions for what order to do things, please share!

For sure we will do Epcot, but can technically skip either park if needed, and just have my parents hang out with the girls while we ride those attractions other days...I was just hoping to avoid that if at all possible, because it makes me feel guilty!

You could probably do that if you flipped your list. AK closes the earliest normally so it tends to get really slow in the late afternoons. Once done with AK, hop the bus to HS amd do those rides, then take the boat to EP to shop, wamder and eat at your leisure.

But you would need to get hopping a bus at 3 to really have a good shot at it.

I am hoping we can maybe go slightly earlier, but am hoping for 3 at the very latest!

Hmm.....If you're on a bus to AK at 3, and you have FP's for EE and dinosaur or those lines aren't long, it's probably doable but I don't think it'll give you very much time at EPCOT to stroll. Are you planning to do a TS dinner while there, or just snack around the world? EPCOT will close at 9 that night (I believe......usually their PM EMH are on Fridays) so all in all you have 6 hours for the 3 parks including travel time. May seem like a lot, but time goes faster in Disney :hourglass
Earlier this month DH and I did our first trip w/o the kids for 4 days :woohoo: and spent a part of each day or night strolling WS - it was awesome!! So I'm going to suggest one of the following for your date night, but of course this is just my opinion ;)
1. Start at AK and then go to EPCOT; if you're really quick in AK maybe hit HS
2. Just hit HS and EPCOT if you're visiting AK another day and can do EE and dinosaur while your parents hang with the kids

Don't feel guilty!! I'm sure you're doing plenty of rides with your children :goodvibes Enjoy those precious few hours alone with DH; you don't want to jam too much in and spend the whole time rushing.

This is easily do-able if you have a car as you won't waste valuable time waiting for buses. I don't think I would attempt this using Disney Transportation. A bus to AK at 3pm? From where? It can be done but you'll spend a majority of your time waiting around and going to and from. If driving, I would FP RnRC and ToT (can you do that with FP+?) as AK will not be crowded after 3pm so you shouldn't need FP for those rides. You'll also be very likely to get a parking spot right up front as early birds will have left.

I would be most worried about being able to make it through the day. I always find walking the world to be quite tiring since it is a lot of walking in the sun. If you do it earlier in the day, then go back to the resort, hop to 2 other parks - I'm not so sure you will have the energy to want to walk around the world again after having already done all that. I know I would be wiped.

It will be very rushed. World showcase usually closes at around 9. If you'd want to spend 2.5 hours there, that gives you 3.5 hours for the other parks plus travel time. I'd suggest Hollywood Studios then Epcot for easiest transportation. Even that may be rushed.

The question I'd ask myself is do I want my date night to be relaxing, or do I want it jam packed? I'd rather have a relaxing date night.

I would rather 'hang out at Epcot-I just love it at night!
Maybe just do one other park before Epcot?

If you crush it hard you could probably pull it off. But for a date night without the kids is that what you want? Have you considered just focusing on WS. Flower and Garden is still going on when you're there. You could spend time just casually strolling around looking at the topiaries. Also take time to sample the different food and drink options at the kiosks set up around WS for F&G. Then find a great spot for Illuminations and enjoy. You could even make dinner reservations too.

Now that's a date night!

Remember you can do EE and RnR single rider line which could cut down on waiting time (during the days when you're with your kids). You could always send parents and kids to a show while you and DH ride so they're not just waiting for you.

Also, my 6 year old (almost 7) LOVES the gift shops in WS. They might actually be his favorite part of WDW, so don't discount the fact that your kids may not like them!

I think we have decided to go to Animal Kingdom, then Epcot for the WS and if there is time left we will go to DHS and if not, we will just ride RnR the next day and have my parents hang out with the kids.

Honestly, it seems like a lot of your time will be wasted getting from location to location. Worse so if you are taking Disney transportation. There is no park to park service so you would have to go from park, back to a resort and the to the next park. I think I would just hit Epcot, relax, maybe ride some of the headliners there and then watch Illiminations.

This is not true, there is park to park service for all four parks. The only place you have to go to a resort to get transportation to is Downtown Disney.

I think this plan sounds good.
