Is it odd for a 17 year old girl never to have gone on a date? Is it just college will come and then BAM?

nope! everyone matures at their own rate. I didn't date until sophmore year in college & everything worked out for me.

Okay lol I am kind of freaking out that I will never date and get a husband or whatever ehh!

I never "dated" much. I had a boyfriend my junior year for about 3 months then dumped him.

Then, after a year in college, I met the man I would eventually marry (but believe me when I say I had NO clue at the time).

So, I don't think it's odd, because I was never much into dating. You'll find your groove. I know a LOT of people who met their significant others/spouses in college!

one of my bestfriends just went on her first date and shes........wait i know this one hang on...........21. sorry, couldn't remember for a minute lol.

so no, it's not odd.

i dated in high school, but not much. everyone kept telling me my standards were "too high". i only wanted a guy who didn't do drugs and was good to me. i really didn't think those standards were too high. but it all worked out, i'm engaged to a man who fits my "standards" now! lol.

Your standards were not too high.... I would not want a guy on drugs or anything like that. those other people are crazy lol

I didn't date in high school. Just wasn't that into it. And there the pickins were kinda slim, for my taste anyways. It wasn't until late in college and after that I dated. Sometimes I feel like I missed out since I didn't date a lot back then. But I didn't. I was able to get out of high school without all that drama. It will happen when its right.

sometimes when a person is not really psychologically ready to be dating or whatever, they just don't give off the right "signals" -- therefore others seem "uninterested". Don't let it effect your self-esteem. When the time is right, it will happen. High school is a weird place, and not everybody finds it to be the right environment to start dating. I found that college was so different and the type of people that I met were so much more mature and interesting that the dating thing got a lot easier. Although, to be honest, I never really "dated" -- mostly I hung out with people I found interesting and things just took off from there.

I did not date until senior year of high school...and then I ended up only dating a couple of college boys. I found that school and work were much more important to me than immature HS boys. Actually, I never dated a boy who was under 21, even when I was under 21. So, good news is that college will be a whole new world and you might find the right person there...or you might find them after college. I met my DH at a bus stop when we were in graduate school...and now we've been together 15 years.

Magic will happen...in due time. :wizard:

I think that there is less dating going on in high school than you realize. Take that time to develop friendships. When you get to college or the workplace you are more likely to meet the kind of guys who you can really relate to and who will interest you. Never put yourself on any kind of time schedule. Enjoy life, and life will happen to you!!!

Are we the same person?

Its totally normal! Don't spend your life waiting for a guy, just enjoy it!

Not odd at all!

I dated right after high school. My parents were very strict with me.

Exactly!

It is not weird at all. My 17yo neice is gorgeous, but just not interested yet.

I was 19 when I went on my first date
Nope, that wasn't with the man of my life, I met him last year at the golf course (didn't realise at that moment I would love him so much, it wasn't love at first sight, although I liked him a lot since the beginning), and we're a couple since August.

Don't worry about how old you are when you find your DH or start dating or so. I still think it's better you don't have a boyfriend instead of having a bad one. You'd rather want to be happy alone instead of unhappy with two! Of course, being happy with two is even better! :)

I was 2 months shy of 18 before I went on my first date. Nothing wrong with it at all, IMO.

Nope not at all. I was so busy with after school activities and my studies that I had no time to deal with boys. I started dating freshman year of college.
