My mom bought a 2 day ticket last year for a trip we had to cancel. instead of upgrading it to 7 for this trip, she bought an additional 5 day ticket. They're both now linked to her MDE. is this going to be a problem? TIA!

Just make sure the one she wants to use is prioritized so the other isn't accidentally used. You can do this at Guest Relations before entering a park.

oh thank goodness. we leave in 5 days!

Another option is to (when you arrive at WDW) upgrade the new 5-day ticket to a 7-day ticket and KEEP the older 2-day ticket for use and/or upgrade on a future trip.
This ticket can be used (in the future) by anyone who wants to use/upgrade it.
(This will mitigate the extra expense paid in mistakenly buying an additional ticket.)

If you want to do this, any of your mom's advance-booked FPs will remain and can be used by here based on the new, upgraded ticket with no changes in FP needed.

After the upgrade is done at WDW, just create a new "fake name" in the MDX account and transfer the
old 2-day ticket to that "fake name" for safe-keeping. (That way, it won't be accidentally used at a park gate.)
