Is this a War Crime ?

Business is thriving in the entire northern third of the country. Oil revenues are up, there are ice cream stands, goods are flowing off of the shelves, real estate prices are rising and their infrastructure has been being built up since 1991 because they were under the umbrella of protection of the no fly zone, hence they have been able to pay for that ad that had been airing in the USA, Thank you America from the 'other Iraq. The southern third was plundered for years by Saddam so they haven't had infrastructure for years. The violence there has some terrorists incidents but probably isn't much worse than most third world countries. The middle third is where 90% of the insurgent violence is directed. It is because of Al Queda, Saddam Suni loyalists and the Shiite militias. If some kind of control can be brought to that area, then the level of violence can be reduced to perhaps that of Detroit on a Saturday night. Again, the US military does NOT torture. I think you have been reading to many issues of the NYTs. The detainees have received medical care that they couldn't have hoped to have had in their own countries.

So you're saying that the policies enforced by the Clinton administration have been effective for the Kurds. Pity Bush didn't understand this concept. And hey, they have ice cream stands so things must be swell.

The southern third was plundered for years by Saddam so they haven't had infrastructure for years. The violence there has some terrorists incidents but probably isn't much worse than most third world countries.

Probably isn't much worse than some third world countries? Can you explain this statement please? Can you provide us with some facts please?

The middle third is where 90% of the insurgent violence is directed. It is because of Al Queda, Saddam Suni loyalists and the Shiite militias. If some kind of control can be brought to that area, then the level of violence can be reduced to perhaps that of Detroit on a Saturday night. Again, the US military does NOT torture. Well you have managed to name the warring factions of which AQ constitutes approx. 2%. The other 98% are in fact also known as Iraqi's. Them killing each other is called a civil war.

If some kind of control can be brought to that area, then the level of violence can be reduced to perhaps that of Detroit on a Saturday night.
And this is exactly what the greatest nation on earth has failed to accomplish under the guidance of George W. Bush. Although the people of Detroit are probably going to take exception with your analogy. Can YOU tell us how to accomplish this?

Again, the US military does NOT torture. I think you have been reading to many issues of the NYTs. The detainees have received medical care that they couldn't have hoped to have had in their own countries.

Yes Dawnct1, the United States does indeed torture prisoners. The United States also hires other countries to torture prisoners. We'vwe all seen the photos. I rarely if ever read the NYT thank you, but if you are suggesting that the NYT has fabricated stories regarding torture of American held prisoners, than I invite you to present thme to us. What is your fixation about medical treatment provided to the prisoners? You're basically saying "Yea, we ripped out his fingernails but at least we bandaged him up afterwards, and they were better bandages than they could ever have received before we bombed them back to the stoneage, so quit your complaining".

He was punished to the extend that the trial's outcome required. Isn't that true of every court in the United States? Sometimes you get the verdict you want, sometimes you don't.

This statement is in direct contridiction to your calim that those responsible would be punished to the FULL EXTENT OF MILITARY LAW. He was not punished to the extent that the trial's outcome requires. Show me any military court or civilian court where the punishment for executing an entire village of men, women and children is to be placed under House arrest for 3 years on an army base in Georgia?. If we used your logic, Saddam Hussein would be released from an Army barracks by 2009.

There is a reason they want them tried by their own people, and it isn't because the military will be more harsh.

We do terrible things to them, it's just that some have decided that what we do isn't actually torture. :sad2:

Eega Beeva, Dawn is quite clearly mixed up.

Countries such as Venezuela, Cuba, all of whom would be part of the court The Europeans, particularly the French who have their issues with the USA, would use this as an opportunity to go after our military.

So two or three countries out of over 120 who have signed up to the ICC :lmao: i'm sure if the President wanted we could hand pick the judges for him

How come U.K the have no problems with it Dawn ? after all if you've nothing to hide then you've nothing to worry about !!!

We all know the real reason, the U.S military isn't the lillywhite it pretends to be !!

War crimes are defined in the statute that established the International Criminal Court.

Charge the President with

1/ Unlawful deportation, confinement or transfer

2/Unlawful wanton destruction or appropriation of property

3/Killing a surrendered combatant

4/Deportation of inhabitants of occupied territory

5/Murder, cruel or degrading treatment and torture

6/Summary execution

7/Rape, sexual slavery, forced prostitution or forced pregnancy

He seems like WAR CRIMINAL to me. Lets hope if we don't at least get justice in court - HISTORY will be his judge and jury !!!
