Is this a vacation or a fun boot camp? ~ Our 1st time at Disney ~ June 2011 TR

At this point we decided to go to Adventureland and on the way by the castle we seen Fairy Godmother with a short line!

In Adventureland, our 1st stop was for a snack! You know where... Aloha Isle! I had to try the oh so famous Dole Whip... and yes I loved it. So did DD, the boys however were not that impressed LOL. Guess it's a girl thing?

After our snack stop, we got FPs for Jungle Cruise & the kids played for a minute.

It was getting close to our lunch ADR time so we walked back toward the center hub and caught the end of the Move it! Shake it! Celebrate it! Street Party! DS was in awe of seeing Woody out there but was too shy to run out. It was fun for the kids to watch, I'm glad we were able to see some of it.

Now it was right at 1pm and our ADR at Crystal Palace was for 1:05pm so we went over and checked in! Good thing we were close by! We waited about 15 minutes for our table.

The hostess noted that it was our anniversary (the next day was actually) and said they would do a little something special. They never did, but we weren't bothered by it. Our waitress was running around like crazy and super busy so she probably didn't even have time to read any special notes!
When we got seated, we seen that Eeyore was close by so we stayed seated to wait for him before we got up to fix our plates. Eeyore is my favorite, so I really enjoyed this! :lovestruc

We went and got our plates then. The lunch food was just OK to me, I just sampled a little of everything and so did everyone else.

Piglet and Tigger came next! DS loved Tigger!

Dessert time! Now these were good! It was the one part of the meal that I was impressed with, Yummy!

We had to sit around and wait for a little bit but finally, Pooh came around!

We left Crystal Palace and it was time for our FPs on the Jungle Cruise. I've heard that it's the CM who makes this ride good and I believe that's true, we got a good one, he was funny and the ride was great!
DSC04027.jpg

We seen the Magic Carpet ride and got on that next. I think it was about a 20 min wait. Lots of fun!

DD wanted to go through the Swiss family treehouse, so we did that quickly before going back to check on Rapunzel.
DSC04062.jpg

We walked back over to see if we could get in line for Rapunzel and the line was much worse. It was about 3:30p and we tried to get in line but the CM told us the line wait was at least 2 hours and it would be closed by then anyway, so she was cutting off the line. Bummer. It just wasn't mean to be.

We were all hot and tired and decided we needed a break, so out we went! With one more look at the castle...

UP NEXT: What do you mean you missed our exit? AND, our night at HS!

We love eating at CP! Although we've only done breakfast there.

The Fairy Godmother will always have a special place in my heart... she's the first character my DDs saw on our first trip! :lovestruc

Bummer (again!) about the Rapunzel line.

You got so much done at MK so far!! I bet you all were having a blast!!

Ahhh that's a bummer DD missed Rapunzel, from what I hear on these boards, that line is always pretty bad. Ugh. Sounds like Rapunzel may need to be put on the FP system like they did with Mickey. Makes me a little glad I have 2 boys and don't have to worry about meet & greets with princesses. One less thing to fit in on the trip.

Yeah, not too bad I guess! From 9:30 to 3:30, 6 hours at MK, we did:
-Checked on Rapunzel, twice & took a few from afar photos
-Snow White
-Carousel
-Mad Party Tea Cups
-Buzz spin
-Mickey's PhilarMagic
-Peter Pan
-It's a Small World
-Met Fairy Godmother
-Resting and snack time @ Aloha Isle
-Seen some of the Street party
-Lunch @ CP
-Jungle Cruise
-Magic Carpets
-Swiss family treehouse
-I forgot to add: We shopped at the Emporium on our way out! :)
(We let the kids get 1 prize/souvineer each day, they usually got toys!)

So that was almost all of Fantasyland, and some of Tomorrowland and Adventureland...and we do come back to MK on Day 4. We never made it to Frontierland or Liberty Square at all though! :guilty: Hopefully we will on our next trip though! :thumbsup2

Yeah, we got Mickey's Philharmagic FPs along with our Winnie the Pooh ones once and that was the start of our love for that show!! It is a must do now. The kids love the 3-D!! (and we do too!) :goodvibes

Yay on getting to CMs on time! That's a shame that the characters were rushed but it sounds like you all had a good time.

Love the way you described seeing the castle for the first time - think taking it all in is a good idea :thumbsup2

Oh no on feeling ill and missing out on Snow White - glad to read you were better afterwards.

Mmm that Dole Whip looks great as do the desserts at CP.

Fabulous pics! You sound like you really accomplished a lot at MK. You are starting to sound like my Drill Sargeant hubby. No rest for the weary!!! :lmao: Cannot wait to read more!!!! :goodvibes

I promised DH that next trip we would have one day in between our park days for just relaxing and doing whatever we wanted, no park... but I can't help but think of the things we could accomplish in a park that day. :rotfl:

So more on Day 2! We had just left Magic Kingdom to take a break. We were parked at the Contemporary and I had a heck of a time trying to find my way out of there and back onto the main road out of the MK area. We somehow ended up at Ft. Wilderness and then turned around and got lost. Oh my!!! I was not in a good mood. I had to pull over and let DH drive and see if he could figure it out. :headache: BIG mistake. LOL. Well, not totally, because he did get us out of the MK area by following the sign for the Poly and then it easily led us to the exit... but after that... I should have gotten back in the driver seat!!! I think I told him at least 5 or 6 times to follow the signs for Animal Kingdom and then for the Animal Kingdom Resorts. :sad2: Apparently he didn't understand. I thought the signs on the main road were pretty clear... :confused3
DSC04077.jpg

I was reading over some park maps and time guides and trying to decide what we would do that night after our break. Then DH says "Was I supposed to turn there? I think I missed our exit." I look up and see the exit and sign for the AK resort area passing by. REALLY??!!
"What do you mean you missed our exit?! How many times did I say ANIMAL KINGDOM RESORT AREA?!?!?!"
He gets frustrated and says "I can't keep up with all of these KINGDOMS! I don't know which is which!!!!"
Well, that was the last exit in WDW, so it made us exit and we had to take the interstate to loop back around. I was so afraid this would take hours and we would get lost but thankfully it didn't take too long and we were back...
DSC04081.jpg

Needless to say, DH didn't drive us around WDW anymore after that! :lmao: How hard is it to learn the difference and Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom? Geez.

So that was the 1 time during our trip that I got in a really stinky mood. We had wasted a good portion of our "break time" because of this. As you can see, DD wasn't very amused either, LOL.
DSC04080.jpg

But we were happy to finally see our Resort!
DSC04083.jpg

I had thought about letting the kids swim quickly while we were back at the resort but this had taken up about 30 minutes of that time so swimming wasn't happening. We just let the kids rest in the room and play with the toys they got from The Emporium for a little bit. And I had to take some time to doctor my poor toe. I had an ingrown toenail and it was getting infected. :guilty: I know it didn't help that I was walking around on it all day everyday but DANG IT, I was at Disney and nothing was going to stop me!! Even if that meant I was limping around all funny!!! pirate:

After a little rest and cooling off, we decided to go back to HS for the night. I really wanted to see F! since it wasn't scheduled when we were there the night before, and we would have another day at MK to go back to see the night stuff there. ;)

UP NEXT: Our night at Hollywood Studio's!

Sounds like you had a bit of a stressful time getting to your resort  Am glad you got there in the end! This is why we are not driving anywhere in Disney World!

Hope your toe felt better and you enjoyed F! :goodvibes

That was really the only time we had a big issue while driving. Other than that, we liked driving. We were able to come and go without waiting on buses and not have to worry about standing on a bus all the way to or from. We seen several buses packed so full that there were a lot of people standing. But I don't know, we never tried it... mostly because we had our big stroller with us! We might ride buses on the next trip though, depending on where we stay, because I'm not bringing a the stroller again. Oh and the roads were never real busy, I guess because most people don't drive... so we got to places in decent time! ;)

I've always wanted to take a break day, but it hasn't happened yet. We do take afternoon breaks, and sometimes we don't go back to the parks after though. Since we can get the most done when the parks first open, it doesn't bother me as much if we stay at our resort in the evenings.

I love the picture of your guys on the carpet ride. They both look so happy!

If you are done with your meals you can tell the handler that you are ready to leave and still have not seen whatever character and they will get it done for you.

Your dh's kingdom comment cracked me up!

Hope fantasmic works out!

I promise I'll have another update soon on our night at HS! Just haven't had time to sit down and do it the past couple of days. :)

We did get a call from Disney last night about a little incident that happened in our resort room on night 2. That'll be coming up as well... Stay tuned!!! :surfweb:

I'll have to remember that in case we ever miss another character at a meal like that. :thumbsup2

Great report so far -- thanks for sharing! I think a lot of us could sympathize with 1) annoyance at hubby-driving, and 2) ignoring a hurt so that everyone can have a good time! In fact, I'm wondering if we're related! :lmao:

The one thing about going to WDW is that no matter what didn't go exactly right THIS time ("wasted" minutes, missed character meets, etc), you can make up for it NEXT time...because, you KNOW there will be a next time. ;)
