Is this a vacation or a fun boot camp? ~ Our 1st time at Disney ~ June 2011 TR

My first trip to WDW was exhausting. Tried to make time to do everything and there is just too much to get done. Learned to pace myself and spread out stuff over a few trips. Much easier and not so tiring. But after all it is Disney World!

Wednesday, June 8th - Arriving at Disney!

We checked out of our hotel and got back on the road around 8am. :thumbsup2
I was so excited to get there, every time I seen a sign pertaining to Disney World I was giddy!

:dance3:

We drove straight to our resort (All Star Movies!) and got checked in there.

She said our room was not ready yet and that they would send me a text when it was. She also said that we would be in building #10... Toy Story!!! Yay!!! :cheer2: We never made any requests but we were really hoping to be put into a Toy Story building!! After getting our packet and KTTW (which we ended up going ahead and adding a park day too), we decided to walk around the resort for a bit and get familiar with things. :cutie:

By this time we were hungry and headed off to our 1st park for some lunch & play time since we were waiting for our room to be ready! :)

UP NEXT...Day 1: Our 1st visits to Hollywood Studio's & Epcot!
princess:

:cool1: Yay you started a TR! Love the photo safari, I'm going to have to get in on that on our next trip.

Can't wait to read more!

Yay! The arrival at Disney is so exciting! Cute pictures! And the resort looks like it was a lot of fun for the kiddos!

Hooray for arriving! So glad to hear you got the building you wanted! Love the pictures! We never really explored, so I didn't see many of the sights. :(

Loving all your pics!! :wizard: Very magical that you guys got the Toy Story building after that is what you wanted all along. Cannot wait to read more! :goodvibes

Wednesday June 8th, continued...
So it was around Noon and we were off to HS for lunch and play since our room wasn't ready yet.

When we got to HS, we headed straight for Pizza Planet. Big mistake! It was so packed... I sent DH and the kids to find us a table (which they ended up standing by to wait on people to leave and then jumped to it!)... then I stood in line for an HOUR to get our food! Seriously... if I had known it would have taken that long, no way would we have stayed there. We ended up spending almost 2 hours there in all!!! We didn't even play in the arcade, just ate and left! The food was good though, the kids liked it. Me and the kids all had cheese pizza's and DH had the meatball sub.

Like I said, it was good, but not worth 2 hours of our precious park time! It was around 2pm when we got out of there and we went to check on riding Toy Story Mania! FPs were gone, of course, so we looked at the Stand by time and it was 70 minutes. But DH and the kids (and me too!) all really wanted to ride it and we were afraid we wouldn't get the chance if we didn't do it now. The CM told us it would only get worse and 70 minutes wasn't that bad for that ride. Yikes, OK... Well, in line we go! So glad the inside where you wait is entertaining to kids and the lined moved steadily so the hour we waited flew by! Before we knew it we were putting on our 3D glasses and it was our turn, Yay!!
DSC04098.jpg

It was such a fun ride, I'm so glad we did it. We walked back by later that day and the wait was up to 110 minutes! Yeah, an hour was OK, but I wouldn't wait 2 hours.
I looked at my phone and seen that I had a text from Disney Destinations:
Your resort room is ready! Your room number is 726. Have a magical day!
Yay, it's ready! But... we are not ready to leave the park yet! So we decided to have some more fun before going to unpack.
It was nearly 4pm now and we got in line for the 4:20 show for The Voyage of the Little Mermaid.
DSC03823.jpg

LOVED that show!!! I love how they do all of the effects to the audience during the shows at Disney. So fun!
DD wanted to check out the big sorcerer's hat so we did that and went inside the little gift shop in there where the kids bought some new hats:
DSC03825.jpg

Then we see it... ToT... DD wants to ride it. DH wants to ride it... I tell them to go ahead and I'll stay out with DS. HA...no such luck, DS starts whining that he wants to ride and promises he won't get scared. UGH. I'm such a wuss, I hate thrill rides and really didn't want to do it but I was the party pooper in the group and couldn't let DH take both kids alone so I said FINE, Let's get this over with!!! :lmao: The stand by line was only like 10 minutes.
DSC03826.jpg

I hated it. DD and DS both cried on it, DS looked SO terrified that I felt so bad for him and hated myself for letting him ride, LOL. DH didn't think it was so bad but whatever! Like I said, I'm a wuss! I wouldn't even look at the screen, I kept my eyes either closed or on the kids! I highly doubt I would ever ride it again!!! HAHA! The funniest thing though was that as terrified at my 4 year old DS was, when we were walking out he was still shaking and he smiled and said "Woah, that was cool!" Crazy boy!!!

It was probably close to 5:30pm at this time and we headed out of the park so we could go back to our resort and get the car unpacked. When we got there, I ran ahead of DH and the kids and got into the room and set up the Mickey and Minnie surprises that I brought as well as our ADR invitations.

They kids loved it! DD immediately said "Wow, Mickey Mouse put this in here? How cool! I love it!" I was happy that it went so well!!
We got settled into our room and by then we were all starving and ready for dinner so we just went to the resort food court for a quick dinner.
DSC03848.jpg

I had grilled chicken (it was OK, very plain.), Kids had chicken nuggets (they loved) and DH had sushi (he said it was OK, nothing special). ;) And of course we got our refillable mugs!! We filled those up many times throughout our trip!!

After dinner, we decided to go to Epcot for Illuminations....

UP NEXT: Our night at Epcot!

Wait .. there's a gift shop inside the hat?

And I totally feel you on the ToT ride. It's DD's favorite, and DH won't ride anything remotely "thrilling". I love thrill rides, just not "dropping" ones like ToT and other "free fall" rides.

Wow... you waited an hour for food at a CS place! :scared1: No wonder the line was only 70 minutes at TSM, everyone was eating pizza. :lmao:

And 70 mins is definitely not bad for TSM. It was 60-90 mins when we were there and FPs gone by noon.

The resort CS food looked good.

Can't wait to hear about Epcot! :goodvibes

Wait .. there's a gift shop inside the hat?

OK, I am so glad that I'm not the only one who didn't realize this! I felt like such an idiot as I was reading your update. But I immediately felt better after realizing I wasn't the only one out there who had missed this fact.

I almost didn't ask ... because I was feeling like an idiot. So thanks for stepping out and not leaving me hanging alone. :lmao::rotfl2:

OH man...TWO hours in Pizza Planet? Ugh...

At least you got to ride Toy Story though....

That is so fun that Mickey left the kids gifts! And that they got into it! :cool1:

Looking forward to your Illuminations update! :thumbsup2

Yikes! Pizza Planet was so busy!

I am glad you got to do TSM. I have not been on it yet, but it is good to know it is worth the wait (in case I don't get there at rope drop!).

I'm sorry your kids were so upset by ToT! And that you didn't like it, too. I love it, but I can see how it would freak you out.

What a great surprise from Mickey! So cute!

A store inside the hat???? I didn't realize that either. Add me to the list!

That really bites, an HOUR to get pizza at a CS. Not bad on TSM though, even with FP we waited 25 minutes or so to ride it during a slow time. The FP joins in towards the stairs at the end and it's pretty slow loading. We all love ToT! Aren't you glad you at least did it once? :)

Lovely pictures :-) Your children are so adorable. I am looking forward to read about the fun time you had at WDW. That is a shocker that you had to wait a long time for your food. I will be staying tuned to hear more about your trip. Take care xoxoxoxo
