"Is This A Ride"? Our Disney Honeymoon Adventure 5/16-5/24

After we went on the safari ride, we walked over to Asia to see another one of my favorite shows: Flights of Wonder. If you have missed this show in the past: don't miss it again! It is different every time. I love watching all of the birds. Here are some pictures:

Josh got called up on stage to participate in the "photo opp of a lifetime". here are the pictures he took:

Unfortunately, the owl was moving faster than he anticipated and he just got a blurry photo of him in flight. But he did get an awesome photo on stage. Here are my pictures:

Josh was so happy to participate. He even got a cute little certificate.

We had some time to kill before the parade, so we walked around the trails some more. I thought I had pictures of that, but I can't find them. Oh well. Here is a picture of my food that I got at Pizzafari.

I used to love the sandwich at Pizzafari, but this time I thought it was gross. The strawberry parfait thing was not much better. I won't go her next time. Blech!

I don't remember what else we did to kill time before the parade. I think we went shopping. I do remember it being really hot. And I remember Josh and I debating if we wanted to skip the parade and just go back to the hotel. We ended up sitting down like 45 minutes before the parade was supposed to start, and we just suffered through the heat. Here is a picture of the parade. We were sitting in a weird spot, so I didn't get many good pictures. The shade and the angle we were sitting at made the pictures look weird.

After we were done with the parade, we made a beeline for the entrance. I hated leaving the park so early, but I couldn't stand the heat. We went back for a much-needed nap in the A/C. When it was time for dinner, we returned to AK.

So Josh and I were a little on the fence about this meal BEFORE we had it. I had been there before the first time I went to Disney World, and the service was horrible (we also weren't on the ddp). Josh didn't think there was anything on the menu that he would like. But we still made the ressie and went to dinner. Boy were we wrong! This was my favorite meal of the entire trip!

So when the waiter came by to take our order, Josh had decided he wanted the kobe beef burger. But he was unsure about the "soy mayo". He asked the waiter if he could get it on the side. the waiter smiled and said, "it is already on the side". Josh asked him what he meant. The waiter explained that the dressing was so good, people kept asking for more of it. So they now serve the burger with an extra helping of mayo on the side. Josh took his word for it (kept the mayo on the side and on the burger), but still ordered the mushrooms on the side (he is picky). I got a flank steak with tempura fried prawns and jasmine rice.

After the waiter left, Josh and I were talking (I don't remember what it was about) and he got overly excited. He spread his arms out, and knocked his drink across the room! We got everything cleaned up with some extra napkins and some help from our waiter. Josh teased me and said, "well at least I didn't break the glass"!

After that little issue was resolved, the waiter brought out our amazing food. Here comes the food porn!

Fried wontons! Sooo good!

My Mango Pie. This was in a to-do box because Josh decided he was too full for dessert. So we picked something on the menu that would be easy to eat later. This was also yummy.

So the park was closed by the time we were done eating. We headed to Epcot for some extra Photopass pictures (speaking of which, I still need to get those on here). We also did some shopping in the World Showcase. We bought my sister-in-law an Alice tea cup and a little purple lucky cat (purple for luck in art).

After Epcot closed, we went back to our hotel. Our last full day was over :sad1:

I'm guessing your dinner was the sit down part of Yak & Yeki? I can't wait to see your PP pictures. How cool Josh got chosen to be on stage! I would have probably freaked out!

Yes, we ate at the TS Yak and Yeti. I think it is kind of silly that the QS and TS locations have the same name.

Josh really loves that sort of attention. He just ate it all up :goodvibes

Great update! Flights of Wonder is one of my very favorite shows. A must see! So cool that Josh got chosen for the picture of a lifetime. We had Y&Y counter service the last time we were there and didn't care much for it. But your TS looks amazing.

Thanks! I was worried Josh wouldn't like the Flights of Wonder show. Most Amphibian/ Reptile guys (including josh) really don't like "bird people". Seriously, go up to a herpetologist and ask him what he thinks about ornithologists (you can see a pretty funny comic about this here). Josh seemed hesitant to watch a show about birds (he calls them "lame dinosaurs" :lmao:) but in the end he really seemed to enjoy it. I think being able to participate in the show helped make his experience more positive.

Yeah. I am not a big fan of the Y&Y QS either (it isn't bad for QS, but it isn't great). But the TS is amazing. Unfortunately, I don't think many people give it a chance. When we went to dinner that night (during peak dinner hours) almost all of the tables were empty. I think this is because people are more likely to try the QS first, believing that the menu is some sort of sample of what the TS has to offer (and then they write off the TS because the quality of the food at the QS is horrible). If they share the same name, why would the TS be much better than the QS, right? That is why I think it is silly that Disney gave both restaurants the same name. IMO, unless the QS is actually a realistic sample of the food served at the TS location, they shouldn't share the same name.

Side note: I know that Y&Y TS is not actually owned by Disney. But I think the QS location is (isn't it?). Could the huge difference in the food be due to the fact that the restaurants have different owners (if the QS is owned by Disney)? Hmm...

Kira, sorry I missed an update (my brother was in the hospital and I got a little behind). I've now read both updates. Love the new snake. My brother used to have a snake -- I think it was a garter snake. My husband is afraid of snakes and he would never go in the part of the house where the snake was; I thought the snake was cute.

I can't believe the duck thought Josh's hand was lunch.

No place that says they have a Chicago Hot Dog HAS a Chicago hot dog (although that one looked pretty darn good).

Sorry you got so wet on Splash Mountain (I wouldn't have been happy either).

We've always enjoyed Tony's (although we definitely prefer lunch over dinner).

I'm so glad you enjoyed Yak & Yeti; we had ressies for this coming September, but I cancelled because we really wanted to go to Flame Tree since it was closed last time and we have a big dinner at Epcot later in the evening...but we will definitely be back to Yak & Yeti as we really enjoyed it in 2008.

You did a great job on the pictures from the Safari (especially love the giraffes and elephants).

I can't wait to see the photopass pictures.

:rotfl::rotfl: Too funny!

I know you must have told me about Josh being picked.. but those pictures really show how cool it was. Knowing Josh, I am sure he was eating it up... he is such a kid who likes that kind of attention. :rotfl:

Oh no! Is your brother okay?

I think snakes are cute, too.

I can't believe the duck thought Josh's hand was lunch.

I think he was aiming for the camera strap. Still, I can't believe he tried to eat it! Those Disney ducks will eat ANYTHING. One of the CMs at AK told me that the ducks were stealing mice from some of the animals. Mice! Normal ducks don't eat mice!

No place that says they have a Chicago Hot Dog HAS a Chicago hot dog (although that one looked pretty darn good).

I have never had the pleasure of having a real Chicago dog. I want to try a real one someday :goodvibes

Thank you! :cutie:

Love reading your report. Congratulations!!

Thanks! :goodvibes

"Oh no! Is your brother okay?"

He's fine now; he has some scar tissue in his stomach after several surgeries which causes problems at times. But he avoided surgery this time so all is good. Thank you for asking.

Yay for avoiding surgery (especially abdominal surgery)! I am glad to hear everything turned out okay.

We did not have our photographer for a long time, so I asked my sister-in-law to take pictures the morning of the wedding. I got to see these pictures for the first time last night. They are amazing! I thought I would share my favorites. UPDATE: The pictures are fixed

It looks like I am crying in this picture, but I am actually covering my face to protect it from hairspray!

Dib was pretty unaffected by the chaos the morning of the wedding. He loves people, so he walked around my apartment saying hi to everyone when we were getting ready (at least until the hair lady's baby started fussing)! Speaking of which...

My mom stopped by for a brief visit while my hair was being done. This is a picture of her holding the hair lady's baby. If you remember from the beginning of the TR, this baby was pretty sick. I tell people he had the baby plague because I was so paranoid that he was going to get me very sick before my honeymoon (even though he just had a little cold, and little colds always look worse with little ones because they have a tendency to produce lots of mucus and spray/dribble/wipe it all over the place). But this is a cute picture.

Love the new pics... especially the artsy one of you when you are covering your face. You are quite the princess. :goodvibes

You wrote a lot of updates while I was away! But I'm caught up now.

I love getting wet on ride, but more when the sun is up. DH on the other hand, would have been even more cranky than you had this happened to us.

I said it before, but I really enjoy all the pictures of the wildlife.

Josh and I bought a new printer/scanner. I thought I would tease you with one photopass picture.

This photo is currently sitting on our mantle in a cute minnie/mickey honeymoon frame :goodvibes

Kira, I love the new wedding pictures. And you do NOT need make-up...you are lovely without it.

What an awesome photopass picture. :goodvibes
