Is this a good deal?

DF and I are getting married in Disney next August and will be staying for 13 nights at Pop Century. We want park hoppers and the dining plan. This is what my travel agent came up with:

10 day Pop standard package with 10 day ph and dining: $2249.72
3 night package with dining and 3 day ph: $1019.04

total: $3268.76

We really only want 10-day park hoppers because there will be several days where we will be occupied with wedding stuff and won't be in the parks. This is the second option:

10 day Pop standard package with 10 day ph and dining: $2249.72
3 night package with dining and 1 day base ticket: $656.94

total: 2906.66

Do you want 3 more days of dining if you will not be going to the parks? You could do a 10-day package and 3 days of room only.

If you still want the DP, then I would go with option 2.

I would not book the dinning plan up front, just the room with a deposit. If they come out with free dining then you can switch.

I also would do it directly with disney, not a travel agent. If a package comes out later by Disney that is cheaper you agent, may not let you switch.

Any reputable TA will switch it for you without any hesitation. Disney Specialist agencies will usually even do so without you asking.

Just something to consider -- IF you go through a TA and want to make changes to the reservation, the TA will need to make those changes with Disney as they own the res.
If you book through Disney yourself, then you make any changes to the res.
Currently guests can add dining to their packages 3 days (72 hours) prior to check in. Hard to say it will always remain this way.
But just a few things to consider.
Also ask this on the resorts board. Someone will most likely work over those figures for you!

My 2 cents worth...

If you are going for that long have you priced the AP? It may not be any cheaper, but then again if there is any possiblibilty that you may be back within 12 months from the purchase date you will get more than your monies worth.

I book through my AAA TA each and everytime. I get to save a little on my room that way. I have changed and updated reservations through them many times with out any problem. Even if you do book your package, and find out they are offering free dinning your TA should be able to change everything over for you without question.

We do want the dining plan for the entire time, and we're using one of the online-Disney-specialist-agencies that is recommended on this board. We used them for our last trip and they were wonderful.

I did look into getting an AP and it turned out to cost more, so it's not worth it for us. I think I'll just go with the second option and get the one-day base ticket since anything else would probably go to waste.
