Is this a dumb idea?

Hi, I was thinking about adding a night to my WDW vacation coming in June. I had a crazy and perhaps not fully baked idea that I would add another night but at a different resort. My question is .....is it a bad idea to change for just one night, are split stays better if you switch in the middle of your vacation??? Just need some expert opinions on this one! Thanks in advance!!!:worship:

depends in my younger days not - now, unless I have to or staying more than a week - want the same place.

you have children - how easy would it be for after one night to pack up and move.

now if you know you are going to do this - then - it can easy. just pack and overnight bag for that one night. leave everything else in the car or just in the luggage. Now if you are driving not a big deal. However if you are flying and using DME it can be. Since all your luggage will be delivered to your first resort.

I can't say that even if you're only traveling with adults it would be worth it. I've done that at the end of my trip (added on 1 day at Universal, not Disney) and I swore I would never do it again for fewer than 2 days. On the day that you move, you don't have access to your room until around 4pm, and then you have to be out by 11 or so in the morning. It's just too short of a time to justify packing up and unpacking again, only to pack up again a few hours later. Of course, my evil solution is to just advise you to add on two days :dance3: , that way your plan will work. My vacations tend to grow and grow throughout the planning process:woohoo: .

I wouldn't do it with my kids. Too much packing up and unpacking for just one night. :sad2: Normally we try to stay at the same resort the whole trip. Unless it's a long trip and we break it in half to like 4 nights/4 nights, or something like that.

When we stay at DVC resorts we almost always end up doing 1 or 2 nights at a WDW resort for the weekend first, then transferring over to the DVC for Sunday-Thursday. But that mainly because of points being higher, not because we really want to switch.

Now if I got offered Cinderella's Castle Suite for one night then SURE I'm on board for that one!!! :cloud9:

Switching is a hassle. Especially if you aren't at a disney resort. I was down for a conference, stayed at the hilton for the first four nights, and switched across the street to the regal sun (grosservor) for the next four. It really seems like it ate a lot of time.

Now, if you're going from one disney resort to another, check out in the morning, give your bags to bell services, tell them where they are going. Go to the parks or do whatever it is you were going to do. When it is time, check in at the new resort, and they should have your bags.

Either way, it is probably better than going home...
