We dont want to go, just want to make sure we dont pick our park dates when one is occurring if they have these at land like they do at wdw..thanks!

And while they don't have hard-ticketed Crhsitmas parties, they will run a Christmas parade and fireworks during the holiday season instead of the regular shows, which is basically what you get at the WDW Christmas parties anyway.

No party, but if you are still picking dates, I might consider avoiding the weekend of Dec 2/3 (and perhaps the days before and after) which will be Candlelight Processional. This is different from WDW as it is performed just these two days in town square and is technically invite only (there are ways to do standby viewing but it can be a significant time investment- search for threads) so the stage and seating will block off much that area for the weekend and a couple days before which can make some traffic flow headaches. The performances themselves can also be a challenge with crowds but it is possible to just avoid things by staying in other areas of Disneyland (or in DCA).

All that to say, it's not the end of the world if that weekend are the only dates that work for you but if you have other options its something to consider.

I've been multiple times during Candlelight weekend and I really didn't have any issues with it. You definitely want to avoid that area when the show is actually happening, but even if you do have to leave/enter DL during the show's time, they just take you through the back way of Main Street instead. (We park hopped from DCA to DL during the show last year and it was not an issue.)

It does also affect viewing areas for the parade since the standby people will take over the town square, so if you want to watch a parade, just find a place further down the route. (It also means the parades are earlier in the day instead of later.)

As long as you plan for it, it's really not that bad. IMO, at least. I'm not going that weekend this year, but it's for other reasons (timing!), and not because I want to avoid Candlelight.

So yeah, if OP wants to avoid it entirely and CAN, then it's good information to have. But if that's the only weekend they can go, they will still likely have a great time.
