Is there something on the DIS that just super annoys you?

For me it's the lack of a good search engine. There is so much great, helpful information, but you can never find it without a lot of digging. Drives me crazy! :scared: Love the site:lovestruc , but just don't understand why they can't work on the search engine and make this an even more enjoyable place to be.

I got around that by using google. Just type what you want to search for followed by site:disboards.com and its like what the old search engine used to be.

Petty gossipy people and people who HONESTLY think they can change grown folks mind about their political aspirations... :sad2:

That's what I hate about RL, too! :lmao:

Blah, people got here before me to crab about the search functionality, or lack of. Drives me crazy because I *hate* to repost something that someone's already asked/said! :rolleyes1

For some reason, it's easier for me to avoid those conversations in real life. It seems like it should be the other way around. :confused3

Is there something here on the Dis that just completely gets under your skin?

For me it's when posters will repeat the same thing many other people have already said. And I am not talking about those long threads that you don't want to read but you want to give your input... but the ones that are only 4 posts long. You say... yes, BTMRR is open when MK opens and the next person below you writes the same thing an hour later!!!!!!

This just happened to me and I am annoyed because this person just goes around affirming what others have said to... idk, boost post count. I really should just put him/her on my ignore list.

What what about you all, I am curious. I hope these things aren't things I do but you never know...

Aren't you going to tell us who it is?

In a long thread, not only repition of the same answer, but when someone quotes a pp, and the same pics are repeated over and over again--it makes for a very long, boring thread. Or people who join a thread and just say "subscribing."

:flower3: Let the flames begin for me.

Nothing super annoys me but I have to say that I roll my eyes when someone comes on here and is worried about not being able to pay their bills and then they have a ticker to some elaborate concierge level trip - or any trip really- to WDW in their siggie. Then when people ask about it they "claim" it was a gift from some relative. Please huh. I can count on less than one hand the people I know who had a relative pay for a trip for them. Over here though it seems like everyone is related to Daddy Warbucks. Now I wouldn't care otherwise, but when you are comtemplating bankruptcy and you have a rich trip giving relative I don't buy it at all. Just a pet peeve of mine. I think those posters are full of it.

Hi, My name is Mandy. :flower3: My in-laws just bought my family of 4 plane tickets to Myrtle Beach in June. They also are paying for our lodging in a 3 bedroom ocean front condo. They treat us to a 3 day ski vacation every year in January. No flames from me, but it does happen!! They don't treat us to a Disney vacation, because they don't like Disney. :confused3 However it does allow us to save all our vacation money for Disney. Now you can add one more person to your count. :thumbsup2

As people have already mentioned the search function on here is really bad. That bothers me. Also the fact that I'll want to go online for a few minutes and I wind up surfing the dis for 2 hours. Where does the time go?

I hate it when someone does not read your full post and then answers the question (wrong) in a rude tone or accuses you of something you did not do, all because they will not take the time to read. I think some people on here skim over the post and answer the question to build up their post number.

I agree! Forgot about those two.

Which is why we have a million posts asking the same things over and over, as someone pointed out as their most annoying thing above. It's a domino effect.
I posted here when there was a reliable search engine and most people would still ask the same questions over and over again. Then they would get all honked off at you when you pointed out that 2 minutes of searching would have found the same answer.

My pet peeve is when people don't use punctuation, paragraphs and/or a spell checker. If you don't have enough pride in what you write and take some time to make it readable then I won't waste my time puzzling out your drivel. I don't expect anyone to have a copy of Strunk and White's "Elements of Style" on hand when they write. I just expect people to make a small effort when they write.

A book to strike fear in the hearts of all who dare open the cover. :rotfl:

I don't like when folks go off topic.

:offtopic: Beautiful redhead, she is!!

Sometimes I feel like things I say are ignored. Like someone will post asking for advice or someone's opinion on something and I'll give mine. Then the OP will respond, making no mention of anything I said. Then someone else comes along and gives the same advice I gave and the OP responds to that person that it is great advice.

I don't take it personally or anything (I don't take message boards THAT seriously!) but it's just one of those moments where I have to roll my eyes! Maybe because I have a low post count relative to many people on this board? :confused3 Oh well, no biggie.

MomToARedhead is not off topic. I am :teeth:

My one pet peve is that since there are sooo many political threads on the Disboards that they should have their own board. I mean I have no problem with people posting and having debates but these threads have just taken over, all the negative posting just seems to bring the overall board down in my opinion. If there are boards about budgets, families, transportation, teens, Universal and it's themed parks, resorts and the like because obviously there was a need and a following I don't see why there can't be a political board.

I joined the Disboards to get help with my vacation planning and there are alot of threads on here that help me do just that; I also love being able to exchange thoughts and ideas with ones who are just as passionate about Disney as I am and I just don't think politics fits in with the whole Disney theme. However, if there's gonna be talk about politics then it should have it's own board.

T.
