Am closing on my dvc as I type. I was just wondering if there is going to be enough time or availability for me to get a room in the second week of December this year. I will take any room at any hotel I just want to use my points

For your information that is the third highest DVC demand week of the year, Christmas week is second, and first week of Dec is first. If you have any chance at all, it would likely be SSR.
The first week of december has almost nothing open. A scattered day here and there. I believe I noticed the most of them at animal kingdom. There were a few days open at SSR for a one bedroom. I currently have a HH at old key west studio booked that I booked at 11 months. Even old key west has no availability for that first week and I imagine the second week is the same. I am waitlisted at BLT lake view and VWL and have been since the 7 month mark. I don't expect the waitlist to go through but I can dream! you might get lucky with a cancelation or if you only want a couple of days. Or if you are buying direct from disney they will usually do some magic to get you your first reservation if it's necessary but if you are buying resale I believe it will be patchy and may involve moving resorts several times if there is even availability
.
I'm currently booked for 12/5-12/12 at OKW which I booked during my home resort priority window. I also have a waitlist for 12/4 in case SWA does one of their special low price sales that requires you to book your flights on a Tuesday. I've been checking daily for availability elsewhere and there is very little available anywhere in a studio. If you are lucky you might get two nights together at one resort but it's mostly single nights anywhere there is availability.
I think there is a possibility to get a room - most likely SSR. I don't know what size room but if you are open to both studio or 1BR then you'll have an even better chance. Or if you are willing to change resorts then you should also have a decent chance if you are closing very soon. Flexibility become key when booking late.
