Is there anyone here who uses the Disney resorts but doesn't visit Disney World?

I flew to Florida for a concert in Tampa in July, but I knew I would prefer to stay in Orlando for a couple of nights instead of staying in Tampa. I had just been to WDW in May, and I wasn't quite ready to buy my next Annual Pass. I'm going back with some family in October.

I had not been to Universal in a few years, so I thought it might be a good idea to try their $86 2-park/7-day pass. I ended up staying at Disney's Pop Century Resort even though I wasn't going to the Disney parks. I knew I was getting a nice clean room and a little bit of Disney atmosphere, and I just couldn't think of a good reason to stay somewhere else.

I ate a meal at Wolfgang Puck Express, and I stopped at Beaches And Cream at the Beach Club one evening for ice cream. I even walked over to the International Gateway entrance of Epcot to look over the gate at the France pavillion. I saw part of Illuminations as I was leaving the Beach Club.

I had a great time though, and I had plenty of stuff to do while I was there.

My DF and I live locally, and thanks to DVC visit just about every month for at least a night or two. Our last few visits we didnt go into a park at all, opting to lounge by the pool, visit Jellyroll's a few times, etc. For us, it just depends on what kind of mood we are in, and what we feel like doing. Either way, vacation is vacation. There is plenty to do at the hotels and elsewhere on property, if you dont visit a park, dont feel bad, and use the money you've saved elsewhere on property. Disney will find a way to get it one way or another:)
