My husband thinks we should buy umbrella strollers for our 4 yo twins. They don't weigh very much yet--under 35 lbs. I think we should just rent a stroller for them. Is it a pain to get in line to rent strollers?

If you are hopping parks or if you want a stroller for outside the parks I'd bring your own. (Downtown Disney, shopping, etc). If you don't mind waiting in the line then just rent.

I would say go with your umbrella stroller.

Reasons:

You have to check them in and out if our leave for the afternoon or park hop.

Kids are VERY tired at the end of the night and you may need them once you leave the park, waiting for buses, monorail, walking to your room at the resort etc...

You won't have to wait in ANOTHER line at Disney, yes sometimes the stroller line is long.

If you are going to be at an airport - we always use it, so we know where she is while we are fumbling with bags/tickets etc.. plus you get to gate check it and get on the plane first which is nice and have it right there and waiting when you arrive in Orlando - it can be a LONG walk in that airport.

Can't beat the price - FREE!!

As the parents of 3 small kids when we last went (Ages 2,4,5) just rent the strollers, Unless you have 2 seperate light strollers for the kids and both of you don't mind pushing one all the time. We have tried all the different options, the heavy duty double stroller we used at home (too heavy and bulky to lug around on the busses), smaller folding strollers (ok but not much room for anything else). The ease of just renting a double stroller from the parks was worth it for us. Plus the kids loved having the double stroller, it gave them more room and a better view. Big vote here for renting a double stroller at the parks, you can pay once and get one at each park if you hop as well, if I remember correctly. I don't remember the wait for strollers being too bad, the only really bad time is if you are at the park bright and early. With twin four year olds you probably won't get there right at open so you should be ok. If you are going at a peak period you may want to bring your own, I seem to remember one or two times all the doubles being rented out at some parks. Perhaps someone else can refresh my memory on the amount of rentals available, it was a blur being there with 3 little ones. :disrocks:

I have two kids who are now older, but when they were little, we always rented strollers. We are major park hoppers, and it was never an issue for us.

Please, for the sake of the rest of us on the bus, please rent them if the children can walk to/from the bus. It just makes it easier on the people around you not to have to contend with strollers for kids who can around short distances on their own.

Always rent ours for our 3 and 5 y/oDS's!! SO,SO,SO much easier than dragging them around everywhere.
Also remember to get the multi-day stroller rentals to save some $$. You get a booklet-type thingy with pull off stroller rentals for each day. And each rental is good for all 4 parks each day!! So if you hop to another park on th same day, you get a stroller there also!! :teeth:

we took our own with us. lightweight umbrella style buggies. Contemplated hiring but i dont like the fact that the strollers are plastic and on really hot days look really uncomfortable.

One thing we did notice though was that in wallmart when we were there there was strollers on sale for about $5 dollars. I did think about buying new ones and bringing them home with us.

Not sure what we will do next year. DD is 5.5 and ds 4.5 so although probably wont want a stroller having one could be handy - although we might buy cheap ones when we are out.

I say bring your own. I hate the Disney strollers, & so do my kids. They are very uncomfortable. Plus there is all the above reasons listed, all very valid, for bringing your own. Not to mention, if you are going to be there for awhile, buying inexpensive umbrella strollers (double, 2 singles (w or w/o a connector)), can be a lot less $$$ than renting everyday.
