I was brought up that when someone gives you something you say, "Thank you," whether you wanted it or not.

Maybe with a tongue in cheek "Thank you for pointing out I made an idiot of myself" when I made a right turn onto a street that for an unknown reason had a No Right Turn between 7 and 9 a.m. sign that I didn't see? Or "Thank you for making what was undoubtedly a bad day already much worse." Or we could look at it from a different perspective and say "Thank you for keeping me safe when I was distracted"... There are my thoughts!

I did.... when I got my first ticket the other day! Thats what I get for speeding... and the guy was polite so I said thank you.

Dont do anything that can get you a ticket and you wont have to say than you to the Cop

The cop give's you a ticket for going 10 MPH over the speed limit, when you were actually going 15 MPH over the speed limit.

When I was very young and got stopped for speeding, I said thank you lord (but not thank you police officer) cause he didn't see the can of beer sitting beside me. Ticket was later dismissed because they fired the officer. ??

My hubby does the same thing. I always say to him "why are you thanking him? He should be saying thank you to you."

I was ticketed about a month ago after a 12 year clean record, sigh, (note to self: "ramping up" just before you hit the highway on-ramp so you will be going the highway limit when you enter instead of the access road limit thereby not seeing total strangers make ugly hand signals at you for going too slow on the highway is more expensive than just putting up with the hand signals....) I said "Thank You" to the nice police officer, too.

He wasn't "hot", either, JTB. He had TV evangelist hair.
