Or am I out of luck and just need to learn to accept it??? :confused3

We booked a direct flight at a great price for our Aug trip in March. NWA has changed it three times and we're now leaving almost two hours later at 11:50! Plus, they added a 9:15 flight now, which I would gladly be on if I could. Anyway, I have painfully learned that their fee to change anything to your reservation is $150 pp., plus the difference in flight. Do I just need to accept that I'm stuck unless I want to fork out the cash or is it worth calling and asking? I remember a couple years back when American did this to our flight and we called and said we needed to be to LA at a certain time and they just switched us to an earlier flight. Ah, I loved those days!

Oh, and to add insult to injury, the 7:20 and 9:15 flights have not changed even by a minute in the past 3 months!!!

Thanks!

I think the best thing to do would be to call NWA and explain that the new flight time doesn't work with your schedule. Maybe they'll waive the fee and put you on the earlier flight for just the price difference. I know Airtran does this all the time with the flights they change, it wouldn't hurt to ask.

No you are not out of luck. If you want to fly earlier that day you can. Call the reservation # and ask if there are available seats on the earlier flight that you would liketo take and simply fly stand by. I do it all the time.
For example my Oct 2008 NWA flight was cheaper if I booked the 9pm flight by $75 a saving of $150 for us but we wanted to fly earlier. So we simply called- found out the there were several open seats and that our chances of fly stand by were good. So that is what we did.

Just did this on my Airtran flight last month. Actually your ticket is good for travel all day is what the gate agent told me.

I wish we could fly stand by, but there are 5 of us flying; and one is a 20 month old!

How close to "almost two hours" is the change? Most airlines, will allow you to change to another flight (or offer a full refund) if they change your flight be a "significant" amount. The issue is that most airlines don't define "significant", but two hours seems to the common cut off (though people have reported fee waives for a few minutes and some airlines state that a "significant" change is a calender day).

Give the airline a call and see what they can do.
