Is there any hope for Saturday after Thanksgiving?

We're flying from Pittsburgh to MCO and it needs to be non-stop. I added another date onto the beginning of our trip so that we would hopefully avoid the craziness of the airports on Sunday. When I changed the date the tickets were $165, I waited. Then they went up to $193. I cried  Then today they were $165 again, I asked my hubby what he thought but then we got sidetracked by needing to unplug the tub! Tonight I check it again and it's up to $204!!!! This is all on Airtran because SW flights have been $247. We're flying home Airtran and have the $25 codes to book the flights down too.

Am I crazy to wait and see if the prices come down anymore? There appears to be a lot of seats open but I don't know if that's because everyone else is waiting too or what :lmao: Help! TIA!

I'm going the week before Thanksgiving and tracked airfare for awhile. It was at $79 each way in early July then went up from there. Last week on Wednesday I was going to book at $104 but then ended up getting hit in the WalMart parking lot and found out parking lots are "no fault" thus I had to pay my deductible... ouch! Couldn't stand paying that and airfare in the same week so decided we weren't going...

Throughout the next week I watched the rates go up and up and up. On Monday I checked three times and all three times the rates rose just a few dollars each way. Then Monday night right before bed I got an email about a "fall sale" and laughed since I had just checked earlier in the day and they were the highest I had seen them yet.

But I just had to check and ended up with $55 flights for both of us down and a $55 flight for her and a $85 flight for me on the way back! There never seemed to be a pattern to when they went up and down except Airtran seemed ot lead the way and then SWA and NWA followed.

I have been pricing airfare to come home the Saturday after Thnaksgiving for months. Getting to Orlando from New Orleans the Saturday before the rates have been great - were at 73 p/p when I booked and still range from there to around 100. Coming home the Sat. after they were close to 300 p/p. I checked and still do every day. One day about a month ago, they (Airtran) dropped them to 73 p/p. It was a late flight - we do not arrive until 10:20 PM but we booked it immediately since we were not planning on doing parks until Sunday anyway. I called my parents to let them know b/c they are going too and by the time my mom talked to my dad and looked into it, the rates were gone, so they were only lowered for a few hours. Anyway... keep checking, perhaps they drop them every once in a while. Good Luck! I know we thought that we were going to have to drive - almost 14 hours with two little ones - because 400 p/p was just too much. Hopefully they will drop again!

Where in Pa. do you live? I'm in Johnstown, and we're driving to Hagerstown, Md., flying non-stop on Allegiant Airlines. They only fly out on Friday or Mondays from Hagerstown, so we're leaving on the Friday after Thanksgiving. The plane does arrive late, and it only goes to Sanford, not MCO, but we don't mind.

We booked when the tickets were $59 each way. With Allegiant, if you want to sit together, you pay extra, but if you don't mind, you don't have to pay that. You'll also pay for checked luggage, but we've flown down using just carry-on, so we know it can be done.

For five of us, our total was $935, including the options we chose. I was satisfied!!
