Is there any hope for no masks by April 2022 at Disney World?

Really a stupid question. None of us have a crystal ball. There is a reasonable chance mask restrictions will be lifted by next April. YOU ALREADY KNOW THAT. None of us have anything to add. Disney is going to go by CDC recommendations. I've read international guests account for 15-20 of total guests. Disney needs to let guests know they are doing everything to keep guests as safe as possible.

Disney Springs doesn't charge admission. It's a shopping and dining area. A guest who ignores mask rules and gets ejected doesn't really suffer any consequences. I'm assuming they leave before it's necessary to call security and or law enforcement.

Disney theme parks charge $$ for admission. Being told to leave for the day, and possibly for the rest of your trip, is a big deal.

I think there is hope certainly. It's hard to say, but things likely will be very different a year from now. I'm not necessarily saying it will happen, but if things keep improving then I think it is very possible. Of course, other things could happen too that aren't good, so there's just no real way to know.

I'm eager to get back to normal Disney but is it pretty safe to say that masks will be required in July 2020? I'd feel a little safer that way until kids can get vaccinated, etc.

I'd say most likely there will be no masks by that time. With Florida and other states dropping the mandate, it's only going to become harder and more cumbersome (not to mention confusing) for Disney to enforce a mask rule.

Yes, if you mean July 2021 that is certian. I think it extremely unlikely they will be lifting it by then. It will be the end of the year at the earliest.

The vaccine rollout has gone much better than expected. You really have to applaud the great job the Federal govmnt, State governments, and local government have done to getting the message out to get vaccinated. I see all around me there is a lot of peer pressure, family pressure, and yes employer pressure to get vaccinated. So I believe we will see by end of May right around 75% of adult population vaccinated. IF the CDC annouces we have herd immunity, it will most likely force Disney's hand to relax the Mask mandate (that is a big IF). So I would believe that no later than late summer the mask mandates will be relaxed.

Yes. To protect people from social media trolling I will stay away from using full names. But, Bob C. suggested that masks would no longer be required in 2022. If B. Chapek is suggesting that masking will go away in 2022, then Disney has a plan based upon certain benchmarks being reached by the American public and internationally. The benchmarks may be cases, deaths, vaccination percentages and availability, hospitalization rates, or all of the above.

You'd think they would ease away from them gradually. For example, masks seem less necessary outside. I wonder if they would get rid of temp checks too.

I'll go with none of the above. I think Disney will be going with CDC guidelines. I don't think Bob will be examining the data and second guessing the CDC.

I agree. B. Chapek isn't going to examine the data. Bob C. has a group of (very likely) talented CMs to do that for him.

The fate of WDW doesn't rest in Bob C's hands - look toward share holders for that - and share holders are saying, get the parks open and money flowing. It may not be popular but WDW is a business and one built to make money - they have a lot of time and money to make up - the sooner capacity can increase the better - outdoor masks are going away soon.

I don't understand why so many people think Disney will surely follow CDC guidelines. Example of a contradiction in this thought process: the CDC is currently recommending against nonessential travel for the unvaccinated, but Disney is happily taking these people's business. They can put the onus on guests to follow guidelines, just like they do with whether or not people visit at all (against CDC guidance).

All cast members can now be vaccinated. This is actually a very important step for the safety of their employees.

In the coming weeks it will be harder and harder for WDW to go against Florida masking requirements - which soon will be recommended, but not required.

This is my point exactly, Disney (while Disney takes into consideration the CDCs guidelines) is not bound by the CDC. Disney has long been a proponent of letting the guest decide what is right for them. Masks, at least for outside, are coming to an end soon.

My gosh...if this isn't what's wrong in the world. How kind of you to take up your own time and energy to tell the OP how stupid their question is. Seriously, it is not hard to just keep scrolling...human decency is not that difficult.

We’re hoping they’re dropped by late January. I hated wearing the mask and dealing with kids with masks for two weeks during our last trip. We always go right after thanksgiving but next year we’re scheduled for 1/26-2/10 in hopes that we won’t need masks then. If we do then do be it but I’m really hoping we won’t.
