Is there any benefit to booking our tickets separately....or as a package?

Last week I went ahead and booked our resort, but held off on the tickets. I know I've heard people say there can be a benefit to booking separately, but I can't see how. The way I've crunched the numbers, it looks the same. Am I missing something? Also, the CM made me give her 2 separate emails since we booked 2 rooms per night (family of 6). I haven't linked anything yet, but will this be a problem? Thank you!

If you add tickets to a room it becomes a package. Packages must be paid in full 45 days prior to check-in and come with rules regarding changes/cancellations. There are a few perks to having a package like being able to add the Disney Dining Plan, discount coupons for activities, etc.

Room only reservations are more flexible when it comes to changes/cancellations and the balance isn't due until check-in.

Okay, thank you! We're only 5 weeks out as it is, but she told me I'd have until 30 days before to make any changes. I assumed I had to pay in full at that time too.

I thought it was odd, too. She asked who would be staying in each room, so without thinking I told her my dh, myself, and 4-year-old. Which meant the other room would be my 19, 16, and 12-year-old. So initially, she asked my my 19-year-old's email address. Lol. I told her I'd give her my second email account.

It is no longer 45 days. It is now 30 days.

Some people also book room only so they can buy park tickets from a third party broker at a slight discount. Undercover Tourist and The Official Ticket Center are two that are reputable. Others buy tickets through Orbitz when they offer special rebates. Another benefit of booking a package is getting 6 months interest free if you pay for the entire package using your Disney Chase Visa. I only book packages occasionally, once out of my 5 trips in 2015 and not for either of my upcoming trips. I wasn't aware the payment date moved from 45 to 30.

Packages can be changed; tickets are non-refundable. So, if you want to add or drop days or features to your tickets in advance, you can only do that if you booked your tickets as part of a package. If you purchase your tickets separately, you can only "upgrade" them in person.
