Is there an ECV company that delivers to resort bell services?

Hi Everyone,
It's been a minute since I've rented an ECV while staying onsite and I think things have changed. I've used Buena Vista Scooters in the past but it seems you have to be at the resort for their times for delivery and pick up. Is there a company that can deliver to Old Key West (bell services?) so I don't have to be there, like in the past?
Thanks for your help.

ScooterBug is the only vendor allowed to utilize Bell Services at the WDW-owned resorts. All other vendors will arrange to meet you in person. If you are staying at Swan/Dolphin or other non-WDW resort, check with the vendor but most will use Bell Services at those resorts.

Just a heads up, some people have had major issues with equipment from Scooter Bug and others have not. Other companies do need to meet you in person and all have varying policies, Buena Vista has set schedules based on resort, Gold Mobility will meet you on your schedule (and has very nice equipment and customer service), the list goes on and on.

No matter what company you rent from, the items you need to confirm are:
  • Drop off/Pickup Procedures and times (make sure they work with your schedule)
    • What happens if your flight is delayed, etc.?
  • How long have they been in business?
  • What happens if they go out of business before you arrive? Especially ig you already gave them money? Several of the local rental places have gone under recently, so this is a legitimate concern.
  • Do they guarantee that you will have a scooter when you get there or is there a possibility of arriving and finding there is no equipment because they overbooked? (Scooterbug has been known to overbook, doesn't always happen, but can)
  • Do they guarantee that you will get the make and model you reserved?
  • Do they allow you to cancel for any reason and get a 100% refund?
  • Are all taxes and fees included in the price quoted?
  • How much with all of the extras you want? For example, Gold Mobility includes all of the following:
    • Captains Chair (Victory Models)
    • Cell Phone Holder
    • Fan
    • Cup Holder
    • Damage AND Theft waiver (This is huge, many don't even offer theft waivers and damage waivers can get expensive)
    • Ponchos
    • Tiller Cover (really just a shower cap)
    • Extended Batteries - 50 Amp batteries in the Victory models vs 35-40 Amp being standard, meaning less charging issues.
    • Now, which, if any of these are of value to you is up to you, but I think it is always best to know and be able to make up your own mind.
  • How is it handled if you do have an issue?
    • Do they expect you to get to the front of the park you are in?
    • Do they expect you to get back to your hotel?
    • Will they meet you inside the park where you are at?
    • What is the average response time to arrive when there is an issue?

DH and I always rent from Gold Mobility because of how flexible they are and how great their customer service is, but again, cover yourself and check all of these things no matter who you rent from.

You are welcome, sometimes I end up sounding like an ad for Gold Mobility, but they really are just that much better than literally everyone else out there that DH and I have tried (not saying there can't be a better company, but we haven't found one) and honestly, unless you are only going for 2 or 3 days they will generally be the least expensive option on top of it.

Thank you! I'll check out Gold Mobility too, I appreciate all the info.
I suggest reading some of the recent reviews for Scooterbug and other companies. My experience in July with Scooterbug was very meh - I won't rent from them again unless I have a very short trip. Gold has worked out the best for me and their equipment is usually top notch. Biggest downside is the flat rate for one week if you're only there for 3 nights for example.

Again, Gold Mobility doesn't do the set times like Buena Vista does, they will ask about flight times (or arrival times if not flying) and generally speaking, they will be there when you arrive at your resort. They will also give you a person you can text in the event of schedule changes. They are really pretty flexible, currently they deliver on your schedule between 7 AM and 7 PM. If before or after that time, you may need to arrange for the next morning or what have you, but if you ask nicely they will generally bring the scooter to your room if you need it.

Oh that's great to know, it is a short trip, I will definitely look into them. I've used Buena Vista in the past and never had a problem, I just don't want to have to be on their schedule. Appreciate it!

Thanks, it is a short 3 night trip. I might even end up renting in the parks as it is a short trip, will see. I will look at those options though. I miss the days when many could drop off a scooter with bell services, it was so convenient. Thanks for your help.

My Scooterbug scooter would roll forwards or backwards on ramps uncontrollably or would refuse to move at all. They did replace it promptly overnight but getting back to the hotel with it was slightly terrifying.

I really don't like ECV's that beep when you reverse - it's just about a deal breaker for me. If you run across any good short term rentals that don't beep in reverse please post back! I'd rent in the parks for the really short trips but I'd struggle to get to the park with my knees the way they are now.

Do make sure to always check Gold Mobility's compared to short term rental locations, right now they are having a sale: $229 and until midnight if you use the code listed on their website, that is another 10% off, which makes it about $206 for up to a week and they don't have the backup beeps.

Well that's not good. I haven't had a chance to check out Gold yet but I will. I may rent in the parks, short trip and not hopping, one of our party won't have a hopper. I know we need to get there early but I don't think that will be a problem either. I'm sorry about your knees, I can relate, having right knee replacement shortly after this trip :(

Yeah, on property rental is $50 per day, so $150+ tax (roughly $165) for 3 days, which is indeed less expensive than Gold's price, but do keep in mind that you won't be able to take that back to your resort and Old Key West is absolutely massive. Luckily they do have multiple bus stops, but some buildings are far way from the nearest bus stop.

This may or may not be an issue for you, but it is something to keep in mind.

To the OP, just remember that if the Scooter Company leaves the Scooter at Bell Services, they also leave the key. Then, you run the risk of someone walking off with the key. Don't ask why, but that's exactly what happened to me at OKW the last time I let the ECV be dropped off at Bell Services. So I waited another almost 1/2 hour for them to find a key "that will work". At least now, while I wait a few minutes for GM to show up with my scooter, they also have the key in it!
