I am a little confused. From reading these boards, it seems as though you can request to be put on a list to add-on points for sold out resorts if they are not currently available.

Last night I spoke to my guide and he told me there was no such thing.

So what is the deal?

Press him further, points are available at sold out resorts and if they aren't you can wait until they get some in inventory. This shouldn't be a big deal. Just tell him you are only interested in that particular resort.

I thought the same thing, but have never really asked my guide about it. It may be just something the more diligent guides keep track of themselves, not like a true waiting list system. I'm contemplating a VWL add-on so I would like to know myself.

I specifically asked him if we wanted to purchase 25 points at OKW and it was not available at the time we were ready to add on, does our name get put on the list for when they do become available. He said that there was no list. I'm going to call again and push the issue. I would think that even if there is no official list, that he would keep our name on a "personal" list and when the points became available call to let us know.

Not long ago DVC made it known they had lots of OKW points available so maybe your guide meant there is no waiting list for OKW points. If you wanted to add on at BCV you would probably have to wait and probably at BWV and VWL depending upon which UY you need.

Just a guess, :confused3 but it could have something to do with the 15 year extension on OKW points that is in the works. Do you want 2042 points or 2057 points? Is OKW you current HOME resort? They may have a 'freeze' on add-ons until they figure out how to handle the 2 different contract dates, and prices for them. They may not sell you 'new' 2057 points if you have rejected the 15 year offer.

Like I stated in the beginning, just a guess. :confused3

No experience with waitlists as we've had luck adding on points from OKW, BWV, and VWL only waiting 3 - 4 minutes while our guide checked availability. Perhaps we were fortunate that they had the correct UY when we called.

The suggestions that there may not be a waitlist for OKW because there are plenty of points available at present or that your guide might keep a personal waitlist vs an official listing both sound feasible.

I'd be inclined to think that was what he meant. Probably just a miscommunication type thing. There was no list for OKW because points were immediately available therefore no need for a list.

We did a 30 point add-on at VWL last week. took 5 minutes over the phone. No wait list. Maybe we just called at a good time.
