Is there a way to view the new AKVillas while there? Prior to buying in?

Can I ask a question? :goodvibes We have stayed at the AKL in a concierge level room (before the conversions). Our stay there is what sinched us into loving the AKL as a home resort. First time we ever felt that way at a WDW resort.

We're coming down in Nov for a cruise, but prior to our cruise, we'll be at WDW for 2 days staying at the Poly becuase we're not renting a car and only doing MK one day. I know I could take a bus down there, but does the DVC have a way of touring prospective buyers? I'd like to look at the new villas before we buy in if I can. I'm just short on time this trip.

Advice? PEAZE? :goodvibes:thumbsup2

And if it's possible, how do you set it up?

the van only takes you to SSR - there the sales office is located.

so go to the MK - then get on AKV bus - then ask in the lobby for a tour of the rooms. -

We toured the Villas at Kadani back in May. We were staying at SSR and drove to AKV's. We went to the front desk and asked if we could possibly see a villa.

They couldn’t be more accommodating. We toured the whole venue and even went into a two bedroom villa. We were able to view the animals and take pictures. Awesome!

When we took the tour of AKV villas, it was at the sales center at SSR.

How did you go about doing that? :) Did you arrange it prior to arriving? I'm sure that's the case but just checking. If I speak to someone there about a tour, is that the "guide" I have to stick with? I've gotten some names from fellow DISers so it'd be nice to use one of them.

I've got 3 months to glean my info. THANK YOU to all the generous folk helping answer questions. I'm trying not to be repetative and doing as much foot work reading forums and such as possible.

Yes just at a CM at the reservation desk. Last fall we wanted to see a VWL studio room. The CM was excited to show us one. Well we get in the elevator to go to the 3rd floor the elevator and the button for the 3rd floor would not lite! HUM she said I will have to call engineering to have them look at that. So I said lets take the stairs. So we do and when we open the door to the 3rd floor the whole floor was being remodeled. Hence the reason the elevator would not go to the 3rd floor. In any case she did show us a room sorta. The room we went into had no carpet and the mattresses were still in plastic leaning against the wall.
Well on our Feb trip a few months after the remodel the room was wonderful.
So just ask them if you can see a room

There's a ginormous DVC sales area open at SSR. DVC members can just drop by between 5-7 in the evening and just wander through the BLT and AKV models on your own. There will also be guides showing tour people through as well, if you have any questions. Be sure to read the disclaimer notices about the fake views shown in the "balcony" windows. And there are "hidden Mickeys" in the AKV carpet.

If it were me, I'd go ahead & select a guide from your recommended list to call now. I'd tell them when I'm coming down and ask for them to go ahead & send all the std. vacation club info. that they typically send to a new customer so I could look thru it before I go. That way if you have any questions you can ask them when you go on your tour. And if you're short on time you could probably go ahead & pre-arrange for your visit to the SSR sales center. I'm sure they would be happy to accommodate your time restraints and get you to & from the Poly at your convenience with their DVC van.:thumbsup2

i'd agree that calling a guide now is a good idea. set up a tour at the model at SSR. maybe squeeze in a dinner at jiko or boma if possible and check out the lobby of jambo house and the animals out back...

We were members already + that's how we did it. It was great to just walk through and see it. But, if you are not yet a member, you can ask a guide at a DVC kiosk and they will gladly arrange a DVC van to pick you up and bring you over at a convenient time.

Annie and Charles. YES. I was hoping to hear this. I'll get a call in soon. this week maybe. I had been stalling because I was unsure as to whether I should wait to ee what incentives were on the cruise. But.... I dunno. I'd feel better having more ducks in a row since we think we'll be doing it.

Edit to add CCFam, thanks too! I was hoping someone would be able to tote my bee-hind. I'll likely have to do this while DH stays behind to watch the kids. My 9 YO would be okay to come w/ but my toddler wouldn't tolerate it for long. I had DH's blessing. :)

ppony My husband and I toured the models at SSR (as we own there besides OKW) and we stayed in May at Kadani Village. You can follow the advice as to which you prefer...to see models or to see actual unit. The new KV is very nice in appointments, extras, and the pool if you have smaller children is "water Disney style". Hope you choose ahead of time as to which avenue you prefer. If you want to use a name....say that I sent you as I enjoyed my stay immensely.
Good Luck-
