I'm planning on purchasing our tickets with them and don't want to be carrying $1400 worth of $50 gift cards! Can I combine them??

Yes, go to disneygiftcards.com, use the pulldown menu "manage cards".

Just as an FYI the final value of any card (after transfers) can't be over $1000 (i.e. you can't transfer more than 19 of your $50 cards to the original $50 card).

There has to be an easier way to word that, but I'm dead tired - sorry. Hope that makes sense.

When combining on disneygiftcard .com, you can only transfer the full value of a card to another card. You can also only manage 5 cards at a time, but you can delete a card from the account once you've zeroed or maxed it out to make room for more. You don't have to worry about the balances. Deleting a card only removes it from your online account; it does not delete any balance.

Also... The card that you transfer your other cards to has to be a re-loadable card. So if it has a $ amount on front, its not a re-loadable card

The other thing that you can do instead or in addition to combining the cards on disney gift card website is open a disney vacation account. If you are more than 120 out from your trip it may be beneficial for you. For every $1,000 you spend on qualified purchases for disney vacations (which includes tickets bought from disney directly) you get a $20 disney gift card back. But, your account must be open for 120 days before you make the purchases to qualify. There have been some IT issues and not everyone likes the DVA, just thought I would mention it to you so you can research it yourself.

That hasn't been true for me.
Well, I tried combining 3 of my preloaded cards onto 1 and it would not work. Called them and I was told that if the card you are trying to load onto is a preloaded card ($ amount printed on front) it will not work....like if you buy 2- $50 preloaded cards at Target...you can't combine them. You CAN load them both onto a card that is re-loadable though (no $ amount printed on them). Even CM at Disney store verified it. Got a re-loadable one...and now when I buy gift cards at Target or Sam's....I transfer them to the re-loadable card.

That has not been my experience at all.

Most of my cards have been $25, $50, or $100's from Target and H-E-B, and I've combined them all with no problems. I've used all values as the cards to hold value, up to $1,000 on each.

All of my cards were $100 ones from Target and I was able to combine them on to two of them.

Where would someone find a re-loadable card?

The Disney Store, disneystore .com, and disneygiftcard .com sell physical Disney gift cards and let you choose among certain amounts that can be loaded onto the card ($25-$500). These Disney gift cards are also available in dozens of different designs that are not otherwise available at Target, or your local big box or grocery stores.

That said, I have never had problems transferring gift card values onto a card I bought from Target, Best Buy, Safeway, etc. I can't even think of any Disney gift card I've used that had a specific denomination printed on its face.

Technically, there is no such thing as a "re-loadable" Disney GC. They have GCs with a fixed amount, such as those which you can purchase at Target. And they have GCs to which you can have an initial amount loaded to them that varies between $25-$500 depending on what you want to put on the card, such as those that I have seen at my local ACME grocery store or online at disneygiftcard .com.
