Is there a way to cancel an ebay transaction that has already been paid for

I listed an old toy of my son's on ebay yesterday as a buy it now, and it sold this morning. We had changed our mind about selling it before I had a chance to take it down. The buyer already paid. Is there a way to cancel the transaction? Thanks!

Ok, thanks for responding. I just asked the seller if they would agree to cancel.

They only need to agree to cancel so that you get your final value fees back. Otherwise, you just eat the fees (and return it in full). Even if they agree to cancel, they can leave you feedback.

As a buyer this would really tick me off. If possible, I would leave negative feedback.

I would be honest and explain to the buyer the circumstance's and that you will give him or her a full refund. Apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused. As a mom I would realize that sometimes kids change there mind.

You will quite possibly get negative feedback, because the buyer will assume that you decided you could sell it for more money. I think you can go in and reply to that, assuming that you didn't cancel for that reason. Then, be very careful NOT to list it again anytime soon.

That happened to me a while ago. My wife purchased an antique lamp on ebay and paid within minutes of it ending. The seller contacted us the following day and decided not to sell. We really wanted this lamp. Person never shipped it and it took 2 weeks for money to be refunded. I left a nasty negative feedback which they disputed and lost. That will most likely happen to you.

If it is not a unique, one-of-a-kind item, you could purchase one just like it on eBay, Amazon, or a retail store's site and have it shipped to your buyer. You may lose a little money, but you'd protect your e-Bay status.
