I’m finally getting my grandparent trip I’ve been wanting to plan forever. My parents don’t like spending a lot and I like staying at the nicer hotels so I offered to pay for their room so they’d be at the same hotel. Is there a way for me to book their room without them receiving any information about the money? Or will they see it on their Disney account? What about if I book a 2 bedroom villa would they see anything with that? They both have Disney accounts so they’ll be seeing everything, but not sure about the prices since I usually book the stuff

If you book the room, you will get the confirmation email and also the statement at checkout. No one else will.

I know this because I often travel with my sister, who books and pays for the room. I also have a Disney account and I also book rooms, but I do not ever see my sister's reservation particulars. On MDE I see that the room is reserved for me, but that's it. When I click on Room Details, it just shows me the type of room, not the cost.

If I'm wrong about all this, I'm sure someone will correct me, but afaik, this is how it works. Only the party paying sees the price and the final statement.

Ok perfect! You’re in the same room together right? I’m wondering if it’s the same if I get them a separate room where my name isn’t on the reservation if I’ll still get the bill at the end?

I disagree. I booked a room on my disney account with my friend and my sibling. My friend, who also has a MDE account, was able to see the room costs on her MDE, even though I booked and paid for everything on my account. It was visible on the app. Not sure if on website

Ugh that makes this a lot more complicated

Yeah, the reason why I know that is because I was using my friend's phone one day in the room, so I checked her MDE. And sure enough, she was able to see the room rate and costs to date (the parking charges too!)

Thanks for letting me know. I might have to stay off property for this trip lol

Oh, I did not know that. I didn't look on my app. That makes this situation much stickier.

Rent points. The cost won’t show up on MDE. Booking a 2 bedroom is going to cost you much less with a broker than directly through Disney.

Are your parents active WDW folks / have their own accounts? Also what’s the ticket situation?

I booked a multi family/room trip awhile back where I was paying and didn’t really want people seeing the details. The others didn’t know anything so I just created their accounts/logged in as them when booking the hotel and managing things.

Would there be anything this close to a trip? It’s for February 2023. There are a lot of cash rooms available

They used to go to the parks a lot when I was young but haven’t been since I was in college. Last time they were at Disney was for my wedding but they didn’t actually do parks. But they each have their own account. They’re planning to buy single day tickets non park hopper for when we go. My family has annual passes. Trying to firm up dates before everything gets purchased, but I checked and all parks are available right now. They want me to handle most of the planning for the trip, so they might not look at anything. But they also might just look out of curiosity. If it was complicated for them to find the information that would be better

Depending on your dates and length of stay.I looked but they are picky on here about telling people if there is DVC availability.

contact A broker. ASAP. I have used Dave”s but someone else many be able to recommend someone.

If you rent with DVC points, there's no way to know. There is no price paid. They could look up how many points it took, but even if they figured that out, they don't know what you paid for the points.

The reservation gives them the number to link in MDE, and it shows DVC booked room.

There are several sites with confirmed reservations for sale.

Do you remember where on the app this is visible? I've never looked for room charges on the app--even my own room charges--so I'm curious about where it's located. And were you specifically looking for this? Or did the information just present itself while you were clicking through for something, perhaps something else entirely?

One of the reasons I'm asking is that I'm wondering if it's something that's not exactly easy to find on the app, so that OP doesn't really have to be concerned about this.

BTW, OP: If you do consider renting DVC points, please be aware of the restrictions, the main one being that your payment will be either completely or partially nonrefundable. Since you have other people going on this trip, you should be aware of this.

They don’t want to be in the same room so renting points won’t work unfortunately. Now I’m considering staying on property and them off property. Would they be allowed to visit us at the resort? I know they wouldn’t be able to go in the pool although it might be too cold for that anyway. Would they just give our name and room number at the gate?

I think planning a trip where you all stay in the same hotel would be much more fun.
Have you considered two rooms at a moderate? POFQ is a great resort for a grandparent trip.
Traveling back and forth eats time and energy.

Ya I mentioned that hotel to them. But they can get a 2 bedroom villa at a Marriott for less than that room. I might just stay off property for this trip to make everyone happy
