If that was the case they would be banned all together not just left out of a certain area.I meant if they were a known troll.

A) How does it keep the trolls (your word, not mine) in one place? What would stop someone from posting in any other Disboard vs the new one?Isn’t that the point of this move by the DIS in the first place - to attempt to box in the trolls in one place, keeping them from free-ranging wacko all over the place, save the “normies” from leaving, while protecting the reputation of the DIS and reaping the benefit of the clicks in either case? I haven’t seen any of the so-called controversial threads with anything new, original or high up on the critical thinking meter - where I have said to myself - wow - the DIS is the place to go to discuss religion and politics …
So? It's something to talk about.People are really overthinking this.
I never said it isn't.So? It's something to talk about.
Yes.People are really overthinking this.
I expected nothing less.I like how people are so looking forward to having the debate board that we're over here debating the debate board.....![]()
I wasn’t aware it was an invitation only forum. I thought anyone could opt in/opt out if they wanted to.
I think the idea is that you have to acknowledge that the board is very loosely moderated, when you choose to participate. In other words, put on your adult pants, stop acting like a tattling kindergartener & don't bother reporting people because they made you mad or hurt your feelings. Why call it a private forum if people can click in and out at any time? If people can simply click on it, it would be like being able to go to the Transportation Board or a DVC board.
I thought the mods have to approve you?
I can't imagine them blocking people from participating, if they're not going to ban them, when it's obvious they only post to instigate.
Mods could always ban people who get out of hand.
I don't think it is invitation only. I think it is just what you said. Opt in/Opt out. As in you request access and then you have the opt in/accept the rules & guidelines of forum to gain access.I wasn’t aware it was an invitation only forum. I thought anyone could opt in/opt out if they wanted to.
Most don't but it happened recently with some nasty off the wall accusations if you didn't agree with the OP.
It sure was. The OP hasn't been back since that I have noticed. That thread sure was something..
I was just thinking that. Or, at least, not back with that name.It sure was. The OP hasn't been back since that I have noticed.
I like this idea.Maybe the Mods use how many times posters have been given previous points for posting inflammatory posts or have been given a certain number of time outs?![]()
I meant the private forum.Do you mean banned from the private forum? As in, they couldn't handle to the open format and are not allowed in that forum anymore. Or completely banned from the DIS?
Probably right.I think we all need to take a step back here and take stock of the situation. All this new, hidden forum is is a place to be a little controversial and air topics of politics and religion, aside from other topics. If that's your cup of tea, you can opt-in. If you think it's gonna stress you out, then simply opt out - by its very nature of being a HIDDEN forum means that if you don't like the taste of what's inside, you won't be blind sighted by its content 24/7.
That's. About. It.
That thread sure was something..

What did I miss? I feel left out lolI was just thinking that. Or, at least, not back with that name.
