Is there a reason there is no talk of OKW? Are we the only ones staying there?

We are staying at OKW from 4/29-5/6 in a 1bdr villa. I was very excited about this until I have noticed no one really talks about this resort on these boards and I am wondering if this is a bad sign or what? Is there something I should know about this resort? This is our first trip to WDW so any info on this resort would be nice. Thanks so much in advance!

You will find more discussion on OKW if you check the DVC boards. It is my favorite resort. I hope you will love it.

We stayed at Old Key West on our first trip as well and we loved it. It does not have the great theming that some of the other resorts have and it is not especially close such as walking distance to any of the parks.

However we could always catch illuminations from our spa and it was really nice at the end of the day to pull up to your front door and not have to walk through huge lobbies.

We have stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and Boardwalk since our first trip and neither one of us would be upset about staying at Old Key West again. Have a great trip.

I will be there the same time as you, last year was our first trip and we stayed there and LOVED it! It is a great break from the parks and commotion everywhere else, and our son had a great time at the pool and playground. This year we have a new little guy to bring with us, and the quiter atmosphere will come in handy again to keep him from being overstimulated. You'll have a great time!

Thank you guys so much Im feeling better already! I read that it was pretty quite and a very laid back atmosphere. That is exactly why we choose this resort. After being at the parks all day I know I will need my down time. I actually wanted to stay offsite at first. I was afraid of Disney overkill. I am very excited to have the perks of staying on site but not having to have Disney in my face 24/7. We are going to Disney world, but we are also on vacation! Just seems like the best of both worlds for me and my family!

We'll also be there...just a short trip this time. 05/05 - 05/07. See you guys at the pool!

You will find a lot of helpful hints and positive reviews of OKW on the DVC Boards. It is very nice. There are lots of things to consider, like if you want to be the check-in and pool area, or if you want to be near the quiet pool or a bus stop. We requested a top floor, because of worry about the noise from upstairs. We were near a bus stop and the main pool, but it was too cold to swim right before Christmas.

We will be at Old Key West April 30- May 5. We are staying in a Two Bedroom villa. This is our first time staying at Old Key West. But I'm convinced that there probley isn't a Disney Resort that we wouldn't like.

OKW is fabulous, we stayed in a 2 bedroom villa for a week in August of 2004. I think it probably gets less discussion here because it is one of the few dedicated DVC resorts. We love it. Olivias cafe is a wonderful place to eat and the main pool has recently been redone. You'll have a great time. Don't worry

We'll be at OKW for Thanksgiving week. I've been second-guessing my decision a bit, wondering if I should have chosen BWV or BCV for their proximity to Epcot and MGM. However, with a 7 and 3 yo we'll still be spending most of our park time at the MK, so that might not be all it's cracked up to be, on this trip anyway. My parents are also traveling with us, and I thought they would appreciate the more quiet atmosphere at OKW.

I posted a couple of questions about OKW on this board and the DVC board a couple of weeks ago and got a lot of responses from people who love it. It seems that those who don't love it are disappointed that it's not themed as dramatically as other resorts, and it's a bit more isolated. Of course, that also seems to be what attracts others to it. I hope you enjoy it!

Oh Im sorry I am new to this whole mess. board thingy too. I didnt realize there was a totally separte place to ask questions about the DVC's. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! And thank you all again for the positives about OKW!

I'm staying there 05/07-05/13 and can't wait!!

You heard about Disney's Best Kept Secret? It's really OKW.

We stayed at OKW in August 2005 and really enjoyed it there. Our home resort is BWV and we really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of OKW. Enjoy . . . there's nothing like the first trip to Disney!

You will be spoiled after this trip! The 1BR villas at OKW are HUGE. The master bedroom is beautiful. The living room/kitchen area is large and open with lots of windows. Instead of just a balcony (like most of the other deluxe resorts) you will have a large veranda with a table and four chairs (and even a ceiling fan!). It is just delightful to have breakfast out on that veranda, or sit out there in the evening. You will have a large jacuzzi tub, too! We stayed in a OKW 1BR for 4 nights this January and absolutely loved it. I hope you do too!

Though we've visited OKW numerous times, we going to stay there for the 1st time in August...

We were a little short of points this year, so the reduced OKW point chart fit perfectly into our plans. :thumbsup2

Plus, we are actually only planning on hitting the parks for 1 day, and so we shouldn't be slowed down at all by the transportation system.. (One can get spoiled by having Epcot and MGM within walking distance..)

The big units, the drive-up-to-your-door parking, the relaxing change of pace from the park frenzy, the family-sized balconies, the full-size washer and dryer--you will LOVE OKW. Enjoy!

We have stayed at OKW 5 times and always have a great time. We love the quiet pools and the laid bak atmospere with our kids. My mom is always with us and she thinks its fabulous with small kids too. My DD is 4 and my DS is 1. Have Fun!

I 2nd that, I've stayed everywhere except BWV and I would always prefer OKW over the others. When I'm at OKW, it just feels like I'm in Florida!
