Is There a Movie you Wish was on DVD, but it Isn't?

Thank you so much for this thread! I was going to post on here last night about a movie that I wished was on DVD. Well, I went to google the name of it so I could be sure I was spelling it right plus make sure I had the right actors and low and behold it is now out on DVD! :woohoo:

If not for this thread I would never have known that it was finally out on DVD.

Mine is a tv show - The Scarecrow and Mrs King with Bruce Boxleitner and Kate Jackson - I just did an Amazon search and they are releasing season 1 in March 2010, so woo hoo!

Disney's version of "Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister" starring Azure Skye. I saw this way before I had read any of the books (Wicked, etc.). I loved it and wanted to see it again. It appeared on the tv show - The Wonderful World of Disney.

A lot of times, the reason older TV shows aren't available is because of music rights for songs that played on the show. New shows work all that stuff out ahead of time, but nobody thought years ago that it would be an issue.

I also would LOVE all the Dancing with the Stars on DVD :( its a shame they don't have them.

Oh, yes please!!!!

I don't know if they have since done it, need to check. The first three Star Wars movies in original format. I know they were released that way on VHS and laserdisc but unable to get them two years ago, in unedited format.

Yep. I have a set of them. Each movie is two discs - one disc of the re-released version, with CGI and Greedo shooting first. The other one is the original theatrical release.

And yes, the Star Wars Holiday special is terrible. So what? There are plenty of other terrible movies on DVD - Plan 9 From Outer Space, Ishtar, Titanic, Waterworld, Twilight, Battlefield Earth, Gigli - the list goes on and on. Lucas should not be able to hide his shame either. ;)

I'd like the SW Holiday special, too. "Terrible" is a relative term ;)

I wanted that set of originals, but couldn't justify it.

There are several Christmas movies from when I was a kid that I would love on DVD. Unfortunately, I don't even know the names of most of them and I'm quite positive they aren't available :(

If you're looking for TV series DVD's, keep a close eye on Amazon because they have been running specials off and on for 30 to 50% off..

Also be sure to click on "used" or the "other new" - because they are often close-outs (still sealed) in perfect condition.. I have purchased them that way in the past..:goodvibes

Are You Afraid of The Dark....anyone remember that? it was popular in the early-mid 90's. i loved that show, and i can't find it on dvd anywhere.

Another reason might be simply that the old tapes (the studio copies) of the shows are just gone. IIRC, a lot of the Johnny Carson-era Tonight Show episodes got lost that way, and I think the BBC tossed a bunch of early Doctor Who episodes.
