I think it is important to remember that Orlando is NOT on the coast. A couple of summers ago they were pelted by a couple of hurricanes that cut across the state, but even then the people who were at WDW were safe. The parks were closed temporarily, but it was nothing catastrophic like what happened in New Orleans. Disney did their best to help folks who couldn't get a flight out, ect. People who live on the coasts often go INTO Orlando when a storm hits. While I think it would be safer to go at another time, I would not spend a lot of time worrying about a hurricane that might hit. Last summer Orlando got nothing, all of the big storms hit more west (poor Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas coast, ect.) And yes, schools in the south generally go back earlier in August and get out earlier, in May. It will be HOT, that is a guarantee, and you will get rain most likely.
