Is there a fp grace period?

Rumor has it the grace period is 15 minutes, but that is never a guarantee. I've tested the 5 minutes early grace period, but never the 15 minutes late.

Seems as though the general consensus is 5 minutes early and 15 minutes late.

We've done 5 minutes early and about 10 minutes late on this trip with success.

Anything more than 5 minutes early and we were not successful.

It's a guaranteed 15 minutes late. Unless there is a glitch, your park ticket or MB will turn green up to 15 minutes after your window. Additionally, CMs might choose to let you in, its really subjective. I typically let people in up to 30 minutes late if they were kind and had an excuse.

We arrived about 8 minutes early and were told we needed to wait a few minutes. It had to be 5 minutes.

The earliest your MB or park ticket will turn green is 5 minutes early. When it comes to any earlier, it's all up to the CMs discretion. Some people that I worked with would not let you in a second early while others (myself included) typically allowed people in about 10 minutes early depending on the size of the line.

I have been let in 5 minutes early, but I think the 15 minutes after depends on the CM.

It doesn't. The only exception is shows that only have the short window. For rides that have an hour window, it's not the kind of thing CMs decide- your band will automatically turn green whether you scan it 5, 10, or 15 minutes after your window passes. I worked at the fastpass entry points of my attractions for months and dealt with this situation many times.

We were once 16 minutes late - I had spoken to cm in advance (we had a restroom situation!)

When we were all regrouped and attempted to go through the fp+ line;
The cm said to us you're too late-it's 16 minutes past your designated time-
I advised I had spoken to her earlier regarding our reason for failure to arrive on time, she had a little moan, adjusted something on her screen & we were admitted.

Other CM posters have reported that the built-in system grace periods can be overridden by them depending on the attraction and circumstances. For this reason, I advise against relying on the GP. I do not want someone to plan on showing up late and risk being denied entry, even in rare cases.

I think the reason for being late is the key. If a person is late because they had a overlapping FastPass time or because they decided to take a longer nap, that's not really going to help out the situation because those things were under their control. But, if they were on a bus that broke down or on a monorail that got stuck or something under Disney's "control", then being late might get them admittance. Mesaboy's point about planning to be late is valid - why plan to be late?

I was late several times last week, I was told by several CMs that there is a 15 minute grace period on the end. I was waiting outside of ToT and was very close to the end of the 15 minutes, but couldn't ride with DS because I was waiting for another adult in the party to sit with my 4 year old. The CM told me there was no reason to be nervous even if they showed up after the 15 minutes he would let us on.

Never ever count on a grace period. Be on time if your cutting it that close that you are asking about a grace period it's time to rethink your plan so you can get there in your 1 hour window

We were 20 minutes late for our TSMM fast pass in July as the Rock 'N Rollercoaster line took way longer than was posted. We found that as long as you're polite, occasionally the cast members will go beyond that 15. Of course, it's all situational I'm sure.

Tested both and asked CMs about them on our last trip, they confirmed the 5/15 grace period.

Doesn't mean WDW couldn't or wouldn't change it ... without any notice for that matter.

So it seems that IN THE SYSTEM -- when Mickey will turn green -- there is a built-in 5 minute early and 15 minute late grace period.

Whether it extends beyond that would be up to the discretion of the CM. I would think extending BEFORE the window would be exceedingly rare, and AFTER would depend on extenuating circumstances, the guest's attitude, crowd levels, what kind of day the CM was having, etc.

I would think it would be tough for a CM to "take away" the built-in grace period (e.g., not allow someone though the FP line 3 minutes early, or 7 minutes late), because the touchpoint will be green, after all.

A CM cannot (as far as my knowledge as a CM extends) take away the grace period. It's a built in system and that's why I'm happy to advise people to take advantage of that period. There's no way for us to know, once the touchpoint turns green, whether you are 3 minutes early or 14 minutes late.

That being said, I also understand caution. And showing up during your window benefits everyone- if too many people show up during their grace period, they'll be interrupting the next window and driving up the standby line.
