Is there a Disney outlet store in CA similar to Character Warehouse in FL? If so how do you get there from the Disneyland Hotel? Can you walk or take a bus, since we will not be renting a car?

not sure what is character warehouse...but i don't think there's a disney outlet...unless someone can tell otherwise. i've never heard of it! we've got disney stores throughout the malls... :flower:

The outlet store is located about 5 miles from Disneyland. Go up Harbor Blvd, passing the I-5, and the outlet store is at the corner of Harbor and Orangethorpe. When you reach Orangethorpe turn right & about a 1/2 block down & the store is on your right.

Does anyone know if you can get to the outlet by means of the Art shuttle system? I'd love to go while we are there but we'll be atsying at the HoJo and will not have a car. Thanks!

Liz

I don't think the ART shuttle goes there because the outlet is in Fullerton, not Anaheim, but you can hop onto the OCTA route 43 bus. To go towards Fullerton get on across Harbor Blvd from DL and get off the bus at Orangethorpe. The bus comes every 15 minutes or so on weekdays and every 30 or so on weekends.

Is it worth the trip?

Went there about 10 days ago and it was not worth it to us. Very dirty and not much variety. The prices were not as good as at the Character Warehouse.

We try and stop in every time we're in CA. Sometimes you get a bargain, sometimes you don't. It depends on what they got in for a shipment.

There were a lot of old items: Haunted Mansion Toys, DL fleece, tons of old t-shirts. Prices seemed high and the store itself was filthy, not clean like the ones in Orlando. The average golf shirt was $20.00 and no lower priced trinket type items. Better selection of things at DS sales. :confused3

They also have temporary ones throughout S CA That are only open for a few months at a time. I think the temporary ones are probably better. If I go around the time that they first open, I walk out with a ton of stuff, mostly clothing items. I love finding sweatshirts/hoodies for 50-60% off. I go to the one in the Lake Elsinore outlet mall (since I live closest to that one) and I find some good stuff. It's usually open in Sept-Nov.

The Fullerton store is hit and miss. Unlike the Character Warehouse stores in Orlando, I believe the Fullerton one is contracted out to a company that runs it for Disney. So...what you get in Fullerton is a bare concrete floor with bare concrete walls (there's absolutely no decor in this place) with bins of stuff and racks of stuff. It's a rather stark place.

The bargains are hit and miss. Lots of old event items. For example, the last time we were there (July of 2004), they had Grad Night stuff and Nightmare Before Christmas Haunted Mansion stuff (that's how old it was.)

Still cheaper than the parks but the selection is rather poor. If you've got a car, it's worth a try but if it's a chore to get there, spend the time at Downtown Disney ::MickeyMo instead. At least you'll have fun there!

Our best deal there was the dollar store next door where we bought a vacation's worth of soft drinks (6 for $1) and Pringles that lasted us for a while. :rotfl2:

there is a temporary location right now at the Puente Hills Mall in Industry. I've been there 3 times now, each time leaving with tons of stuff! They do have "some, very little" up-to-date stuff.

FYI - Right now for any Northern California Disney fans, there is a temporary Disney outlet in the Petaluma Outlets. I believe they just opened about 2 weekends ago and will stay open till I wanna say June.

Can you supply a web address or a street adress...I can look it up on mapquest once I get more specifics. Thanks.
