Awesome - let us know what you make, and how it comes out! Thanks for the responses! Just ordered my new cookbook!!!
They don't have biscuits and gravy in the Northeast? That's one of the saddest things I've ever read.
Like, whenever someone reads your post, a Sarah MacLachlan song should start playing.
My adult husband (31) and both of his parents (60ish) all tried biscuits and gravy for the first time in their lives when I cooked it. I'm born and raised in TN, they're all from NY. His friends had never tried it either. HIS BROTHER DIDNT EVEN KNOW WHAT IT WAS.
I'm sorry for the caps but even thinking about it again makes me want to weep. These poor people, living their lives without biscuits and gravy...

How did this not come up in premarital counseling? "Never tried biscuits and gravy" should have been a huge red flag.

LOL! My hubs had at least heard of it, thankfully; his brother goes (and I'm not kidding), "biscuits with brown gravy? What?? That sounds weird" "no, dude it's white gravy, like sausage gravy" "white gravy? How do you even make white gravy?"
The worst part is that they are a foodie family - my MIL cooks big meals, has like an entire bookshelf of cookbooks, and was born and raised in Germany. They eat and cook all the time! Just...not biscuits and gravyhaha!
I don't want to be lynched, but I'm from England and well...I don't like biscuits and gravy. It's weird. When someone first mentioned it I thought they meant biscuits like cookies, and brown gravy. It sounded horrific and I've never taken to it since.
I've made the creme brûlée cheesecake before, I think that was from one of the cruise ships. I also make the goats cheese ravioli from California Grill fairly regularly, and the Penne a la vodka from Mama Melrose.
I would never inflict physical harm on anyone who doesn't like biscuits and gravy, but you better believe I am shaking my head with a very disapproving look on my face at you, Kate.
I understand, and I'm very sorry. I have tried very hard to like them...I just don't. I could never move to the south.

My hubs is first generation German and his Mom cooks German dishes from her childhood all the time. I could never live there. And I'm a pretty adventurous eater. Haha! We all have things we like and don't like![]()
The first time mu husband came to England, my mom made him blood pudding. If you don't know what it is, be thankful. My poor husband felt he had to eat it to be polite, but I feared he might never come to England ever again.
