I am just wondering since we've never had...
Is there a difference in this if you get it at Kona or through the CS option at the other place? Is it really thaaaaat good?

Just trying to figure out what difference is?

Thanks!!!!

Yep, I think it's that good. One of the best breakfast concoctions ever!

The difference, I think, is that at Kona its served with a strawberry compote and at Capt. Cooks, you don't get the compote.

No, their is not difference. I had been reading about Tonga Toast for 3 years on this board and then finally last August we had a character breakfast at Ohana's and I ordered it separate from the breakfast buffet. It was out of this world good!!

Don't miss out on this culinary homerun:thumbsup2

What am I missing? What is tonga toast??? Is it like french toast? I am a huge french toast fan!

It's a piece of thick sourdough bread, split and filled with sliced bananas, fried and covered with cinnamon and sugar. Lordy, it's rich. But good, my stars, it's good. It's a little like a Monte Cristo sandwich the way it's fried.

Absolutely zero nutritional value, but you're on vacation, so who gives a rip? :rotfl2:

I know this sounds stupid, but I've been brainstorming and. we.. let me know what you think of my idea here..

I've never had this tonga toast and am DYING to try it.. as well as those pineapple macadamia pancakes or whatever they are... SOO, my idea was to order the tonga toast for myself.. and that big breakfast plate with everything on it for my husband and just share, think that would be enough food? lol.. because I am definitely a breakfast person, but sheesh that tonga toast looks quite large!

OMG!! That sounds amazing!! I wasn't planning on going out to breakfast since we will have our own kitchen, but now I will have to add in the tonga toast for sure!!

We ate Tonga Toast from Capt. Cooks about a week and a half ago...my 24 yr old boyfriend STILL hasn't stopped talking about it and showing people the pictures he took on his cell phone to people of how huge it was! It was one of the best breakfast foods I've ever eaten. there's no difference between what they give you at Kona and at Capt. Cooks besides the lack of the strawberry compote at CC. Definitely try the TT!!

Did you order it at Ohana? And have it brought to you there? Cause if you can, I sooooo want to do that! We do Ohana every trip. Love It! But I really want to try the Tonga Toast!

Is it different from the puffed french toast at CP? And then there is the french toast loaf... I haven't had ANY of them. Not thinking I will try all of them my next trip but if you had to have only ONE which one and from where?

That would be plenty of food - the big kahuna is huge, tonga toast is huge! perfect!

you could probably feed a few stray dogs while you're at it....

I got the recipe for this bad boy and have tried it a couple of times at home, but I can't quite pull it off. Give it a try ... we've made it a last breakfast thing a few times before heading home.

The server might offer you syrup. Don't use it. Trust me.

Wonder if I can also order a plate of macadamia pancakes too? :confused3

I'll also be ordering the pot of kona pressed coffee. They're going to be like lady, just go to the Kona Cafe please :rotfl2: But Ohanas is a must do for the kids! :rotfl:
