Is there a better time of day to check in?

After reading the thread about online check-in, it looks like there are often long lines to wait in. Is there a time of day that's better than others?

We haven't decided on our final driving plan yet. Our two options are to stay overnight somewhere along the way (campground), get up in the a.m. and drive a few hours to the Fort or to stay somewhere closer (parking lot - I have reviewed the thread about overnight stays closer to Disney, so I know we'll have to plan that carefully), get up and get there earlier in the morning.

Thoughts???

I have found early checking in around 7am is a great time. It starts getting busy around 10am and just goes down hill from there

7:00AM to 7:30AM is our favorite check-in time also. One must go into the Outpost to check in.

I always go into the Outpost to check in. I have never used the outside lanes

Well check out is like 11AM so if you check in as early as 7AM don't expect your assigned site to be vacant. For us we like to get there around 10 to 11AM for the 1PM check in and as long as it's vacant I don't care if they have prepped it or not, I can do that myself.

This is our first time staying at FW. I see the check in time is 1pm but apparently if the sites are ready, you can check in early? Do they charge for early check in?

No early check-in charge. :thumbsup2 Don't give them any ideas.
