Is the Wilderness Lodge loud?

I keep hearing that it's kind of a busy resort and also noisy at times. I am going there with my fiance for our honeymoon this May, I would rather go somewhere more peaceful and quite. He has epilepsy and needs to be able to get sleep whenever he needs in order to not have a seizure, so quite is a must.

Thanks!
Ashley

I have stayed at WL several times and never found the noise level to be a problem even with the Whispering Canyon restaurant in the lobby.
If you are really concerned, you can try and book a room in the Villas section which is a separate building and very quiet. The Villas is a DVC property but non-members can sometimes book rooms there if there is availability.

I never had a noise problem either (though I never have at any WDW resort to date). We stayed in concierge up on the seventh floor and in a castle view (far at the end of the hallway) so that may have helped. Our room was nowhere near the lobby and totally quiet. I don't remember the resort having a busy feeling at all but we were there during value season so it wasn't that crowded (I'm assuming considering the pool was not crowded and I've heard much about the pool crowds there).

I honestly think its a great place. My favorite is GF but I would always stay at WL without a second thought. We just don't get there as much because there are always so many great places to choose from and there is some tough competition among the deluxes ! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

thanks for the replies so far, I'm happy I wont have to change resorts so close to our honeymoon.

when we stayed at the wilderness lodge, we had no problems with noise, we had a deluxe room with forest/water view & balcony, it was very relaxing. but if you're concerned about your hubby2be i'd suggest requesting a room in one of the wings opposed to the main lobby or pool/courtyard view, & not on the ground floor, just incase.

have a wonderful time honeymooning at wdw ashley!

I think it depends on the location of your room. Most of the "noisy" posts seem to say the room they had overlooked the lobby. Since the lobby is so big and everything echos, that's probably where the noise comes from. We got a double-upgrade :cool1: when we stayed here 2 years ago, and had a room overlooking the lake (at the ends of the horseshoe next to the suites). The only noise we had was from the water parade at night (now THAT is loud!). And... our neighbors fighting and throwing things around their room, causing our poor babysitter to have to call security :sad2: . But that can happen anywhere... not just at the WL!

Request a room on the Villa's side. That wing is very quiet. We didn't hear a "peep" during our stay.

I was on the first floor, courtyard, facing the pool and the only noise I ever heard was the distant music from the water parade a couple of nights. Other than that it was very quiet.

I would just request that you get a room farther away from the lobby.

When we stayed at the WL in January, it was off-peak, so the crowds were minimal. Given that, I'll share our experience. We had a room that overlooked Otter Pond and, in the distance, the MK castle. It was toward the end of the hall away from the lobby (5012, I believe) with a queen bed and bunks, and it was not a bit noisy. We felt that it was very convenient, actually...not far from elevators, which were then close to Roaring Forks. Have a wonderful trip!!

Thanks everyone, do you think it would help if I called someone there in advance and explained our situation, thus saving my then DH some embarrassment. He's very private about his epilepsy, I didnt' find out until about 7 months after we started dating.

Thanks!
Ashley

We Stayed at WL for our honeymoon and one other time. Noise was never a problem. We had a room that opened onto the main area and the only time we heard anything was when they rang the dinner bell, but that was because we were listening for it :)

I'd say that calling could never hurt. I know that WDW is very accomodating to anybody with a medical need. I'm sure they would be more than happy to help you get a quiet room. Have a wonderful honeymoon at the World!
