Is the wet Florida weather a worry?

We have got 2 friends who are due home tomorrow who have been in orlando for 3 weeks and due to torrential rain have had to put off a lot of their trips etc (bear in mind this was a message second hand from their mother so could be exaggerated!) Also have seen the floods in florida "the worsed rain for 75 years" on the news, is this anywhere near orlando? I have tried to look on the internet for the weather and every thing seems "normal" in orlando so maybe it's down south/coastal.

I'm worried cos we are going in 24 august and usually go in october and although we will do the "poncho" thing i'd hate to have constant rain.

Is anybody else worried that the rain will spoil things?

I was there 3 weeks ago to last week. Summer rain is a constant in Florida, afternoon showers/thunderstorms pretty much everyday. June is a little early for this feature, but that was pretty much the patern for our trip. We had a couple of days with no rain but generally a couple of hours rain somewhere between 4 and 8 was the standard. To counteract this I suggest you plan ( as we did) any pool time or outdoor rides/experiences for the mornings/early afternoon and leave the indoor activities ( shopping, cinema, DQ, Cirque, in door rides) for the afternoon. With the warm weather in Fl it's not like the rain leaves you chilled to the bone( although coming into the aircon wet can make you cold) and it can be refreshing in a small burst. It certainly can take a lot of the oppressive heat out of the day although as it evaporates and the air heats up it can make it VERY humid.

No one wants to have thunderstorms all day long, but it's not hard to work round a couple of hours a day.

We always go on AUG 25th for 2 weeks amd to be honest the rainy season seems to die down around this time. When we went in 2000 it we had afew showers but nothing major. Again in 2001 afew showers + one day when it started at 3pm and carried on all night. We are going again this year on 25th Augs and i cant wait. I'm sure the weather will be fine

have a great trip

Orlando is having a very wet June!

The very wet season starts the last week of May until end of July. During this period expect it to rain every day for upto 5 hours (I have known it to rain all day!)

From August it gets slowly dryer.

I have stopped in September and didn't get any rain for the whole two weeks!

Went in June last year and had the worst weather in all the years we have been travelling to Orlando.

It rained nearly everyday and not just an afternoon storm but steady rain, very cloudy skies from early morning onwards:mad:

Still had a good time though and luckily the day we went to TL was the hottest of the 2 weeks

Maybe everywhere is getting rainy .. just like home !!
