Is "The View" a rerun today?

I tuned in a couple minutes late. (Not that I watch the show regularly.) But, they didn't have their usual talking about current news events at the table today. Instead, it seems to be a "theme" show on "Getting a job."

I can't believe they would just go directly into the theme without mentioning the two deaths that happened yesterday, :confused3 no matter what time frame they were under to get this theme show done.

If it is a rerun, why of ALL days have one? I'd think they'd want the big ratings to talk about such events happening on the same day and pay homage to Farrah & Michael.

I was wondering the same thing. I sat and watched the first few minutes confused thinking, "Two major celebrities died yesterday and they're discussing how to get a job. I understand that's important but no mention?"

I saw a preview saying today's show was the Psychich View. All of the panal memebers were going to get their fortune's read

Ah, thanks. The pre-taping makes sense. Especially if usual viewers are used to knowing Fridays are pre-taped. Because the other thing I wondered was, if they purposely showed a rerun, because too many of the women were all cut up over MJ and couldn't appear to do a show on him. :confused3 So there wasn't enough women to appear on the show. But, then I wondered which women would that be? :scratchin

I know Diane Sawyer took time off from work after her good friend, JFK, Jr. died.

Yeah, I thought this was strange too; like maybe they would've done a special live taping today on both of the deaths. When Monday roles around, people will not want to hear about "old news" IMO.

My sister texted me yesterday that John Edward was going to be on The View today. I never watch The View but wanted to see him - I used to watch his 'Crossing Over' show all the time.

Anyway when the show started I was surprised that it was about "How to find a job". I was like, huh? Is John Edward going to give people readings about where they are going to find work?? Then I saw that it was an Encore Presentation ... fancy word for 'repeat'. Darn!

My sister said maybe ABC thought it would be inappropriate to have a guy on the show that talks to deceased people right after the passing of Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett.

It did say encore presentation at the beginning of the show. At least they admit it's a repeat.

I got annoyed when Regis came on this morning and said "today is Friday, June 26th" and never mentioned the deaths. Then on the bottom is said "previously recorded". They were busted for trying to pawn it off as a live show.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Events like yesterday, are when you'd think the producers would have special provisions in their contract to call them in and say, we are having a special show, because Monday will be too late on a "live" format show. :p

Missed the "encore presentation' part of it. I had figured they'd be yapping about the two for a while, so it didn't matter that I tuned in late.

As for Regis, it sounds like they too, are on a four day taping schedule with long weekends. So they probably filmed yesterday before either of the two died. So much for "live" shows.

Craig Ferguson on Late Night, (after Letterman) sometimes tapes Friday on Thursday, if he's doing a stand-up show out of town. But he usually makes a joke out of it, and you can tell from the way the audience laughs & how he winks ;), that it is NOT being taped on Friday.

They probably didn't want to give up their day off.

Basically the thing is The View and Regis are both entertainment shows not news shows.

I can't imagine what they would have to pay the hosts/production/staff etc etc to be "on call" for these types of situations. It's not just the hosts that pull off the show. And then all those people "on call" could never go on vacations, have appts scheduled, etc.

I am sure they will make mention of it on Monday and it won't be that old - there will be all new information about Michael (the kids, the memorial plans, the estate questions, more info on the death) by then that will be fresh to talk about. And probably not as much on Farrah since her death was expected but still there might be info on whether Redmond will be allowed to attend her funeral, Ryan's statements on her last day, etc.

Friday's show is always taped on Thursday. But for the first time they had that it is previously recorded on the screen. They NEVER have that.

I was wondering the same thing about both shows. You know Barbara Walters would've been there with Michael & Farrah stories to share. I was waiting for Regis to say something but never did? I must of missed the previously recorded message when the show came on. I know later that evening on Access Hollywood they quickly stopped Regis and his wife at some event and he spoke about Michael. I guess we will have to wait until Monday. Kelly Ripa will be back Monday as well.

Kelly will be there Monday but with Mark not Regis.

My friend has tickets and that is what the line up is.

It looks like The View is in reruns all next week. John Edward was scheduled for Friday. Perhaps they ran a rerun instead of the pre-tape (it did say "encore presentation") to cover that they were not discussing the news.
