Is the long flight worth it?

We're looking into flights to Disneyland. We need to leave from either Saskatoon or Winnipeg (we're an 8 hour drive north). Almost every single flight goes BACK to Toronto before heading south. These flights leave at 7 or 8 in the morning and don't get in until 8 at night! We have 2 kids and an infant; I just don't think it's workable.:confused3

Did you check Westjet? They have flights leaving from Winnipeg and connecting through Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver. Going to Toronto to fly to LAX would not be fun especially after an eight hour drive.

We live in Yellowknife and went last year. We flew to Edmonton, spent the night and then flew direct to LAX last year on westjet. It was worth it! With an 8 hour drive and 3 kids I would check to see if you could get a flight to Edmonton, spend the night and then take the direct flight the next day - it goes everyday except Saturday I think, when you have to connect in Calgary.

During the winter season Winnipeg has direct flights to Orlando. There have been great deals on Westjet Vacations. You may want to consider that as an option. They were advertizing $451/pp including taxes and 7 nights of offsite accommodation on their last minute deals page. Onsite at a value was a bit more.

The direct flights from YEG to LAX have been really cut back. Air Canada's direct flights from Edmonton are no longer, WJ is offering fewer days in the week.

I'll keep checking, see what I can find...I haven't looked too much at WestJet yet. There's no question of flying to Edmonton; we have to drive 8 or more hours to an airport, no matter what.:rotfl:

Maybe you should try booking the flights separately. Can you fly from Winnipeg/Saskatoon direct to Seattle then Seattle to LAX? Might be able to work that out on your own, and it should be cheap from Seattle to LA. or Win/Sask to Vancouver then direct to LA.

Consider a red-eye flight.

When I fly from Seattle to Orlando the red-eye flights are better. We sleep on the plane and arrive in the morning. We don't rush to a park that day we visit DTD or swim at the resort. We get to bed early then we are set. Helps with the time change for us.
