Is the Hoop-Dee-Doo worth the price? (Colson's Poll Of The Week)

Ok, so this weeks poll question is a bit more on the controversial side (as far as this board is concerned), as some people love the Hoop-Dee-Doo, and some people think it's overpriced. So how do y'all feel?

I don't see this as being controversial, Chris. You either like the Hoop-Dee-Doo, or you don't.

I, for one, think the Polynesian Revue is the better show and food for the $$. Apparently, people do like the HDDR, or it would not still be running after all these years! I'm just not one of them.... one time (well, two 'cause we got sucked into it by relatives the second time, and not Al, either) was enough for me.

Well, that's why I said it's been a bit more controversial on these boards, not necessarily in general (in regards to the price). There have been quite a few long threads about it in the past....lol

I personally think it's worth the price, but it also holds a lot of nostalgia for my family

Can you love it AND think it's overpriced?

We've seen it twice...but I'd have to say it was years ago...and way cheaper. We saw it on our first visit to FW, another time when we took my mom. I'm not sure I'd do it again. Also not a fan of the tier pricing that's offered now. I think if I was paying for a couple of tickets..I might see it again. If I were paying for 5 or 6 tickets...not so much. There are just to many variables that would go into our decision.
Also if one is using the Dining Plan..which a good many cabin guests use, your two table service credits required for the show, won't get you the tier one seating. Not sure how fair that is.

I really think it depends on whether you have a bunch of kids(who over 10 you will be paying adult price) or whether you might be a smaller family, where it is more affordable.
I think that's where going to the Back Yard BBQ is a better option for those with small children, not wanting to pay the big bucks for the Hoop Dee Do.

The longest running dinner show in all WDW........its AWESOME.....

But unfortunately ...... at it's price structure...... It can't be enjoyed by a majority of blue collar campers at the fort........

yeah, it's pricey...but when my 'typically cranky, can't be pleased by anything' DD cracked up enough to make the characters break and laugh at her on stage...I would have paid DOUBLE for that experience!!!!!! The people in the tables next to us even said seeing the reaction of a 5 yr old, precious little girl made it worth it all for them!!!

Seeing my step father in wings and a halo was worth it for me! I don't know if I would want to spend 2 table service credits on it only to sit in the back or balcony though. We have been 2 times, and both were a blast, however this trip we aren't going. We have to crimp somewhere because of the extra for gas, so the HDDR is out for this year. It's ok though, there is still PLENTY to do!

I think that about sums it up for me to. It's definetly worth seeing..at least once. I just don't think it's worth the money for repeat trips unless you are bringing someone new and able to see them experience it.

No, it is NOT worth the price (over $200 for my family of 5) BUT we went anyway The food was really good, the kids loved the show. I've never seen my son laugh so hard. So it was money well spent, IMO.

I am with the crowd of really liking it and thinking it is too pricey. I know that the performers need their cut as well, I am a music minor with theatre background, however, I have only gone on our honeymoon and only plan to go once more when ds4 is older. It is not on the "things the majors can afford" menu.

From what I'm hearing that CM was disposed of immediately. He now works at Arabian Nights as "The Fool". You know I'm just picking at you Scott. I'm not sure about his performance at WDW but he gives good advice on vehicle repair work.

When my family was there we were celebrating my husband's birthday. One of the lady castmembers came into the audience ran her fingers through his hair..calling him "Bob, from NY". He was so embarrassed. Periodically through the show, she would stop, and ask "Bob from NY" what he thought.
Later we were on the Hayride, and the passengers went around and said there names, and where we were from. When they got to my husband he said his name, and everyone yelled...."FROM NY!"

Later that evening we were in the elevator at the WL returning to our room. When a little boy kept tugging at this fathers arm, while staring at my husband. The father finally looked down at his little boy pointed up at my husband. Then both parents said..."Hey..it's Bob..from NY".

Jeeze, you had thought he was famous!
