Frank, how long does it take you to catch on to something.

Fort Fav...followed closely by a tiny state park in Alabama called Bucks Pocket..never stayed in a KOA I like!!!

We will see FW for the first time in October... but until then, our favorite campground is right around the corner from us, Hammonassette State Park in Connecticut:

Dry camping, huge flat open sites, beach, bike riding, bird watching, nature center... just a great park all around, for not a lot of money.

We have been to a lot of private campgrounds in our area, but our favorite is probably River Bend Campground in Oneco, CT:

Might be a little rustic for some, sites aren't the biggest, but the staff is great, ALL the campers we've met there are wonderful, and we've always just had a great time while camping there.

Fort Wilderness, we'll see you in 3 months! (CRIPES, that soon already?? I gotta go start packing...)

Definitely THE FORT!!!!! Since we can only head to my very favorite place in the world once every few years, I have to have a second favorite, which is Lake Erie. Most of the campgrounds are great, and Cedar Point is a quick-fix until we can head back to Disney! :thumbsup2

The Fort, there is no comparison. With the price of fuel only place we go now. We only live 60 miles from outpost.

I don't think thats such an easy question. The Fort is by far our favorite resort campground, but for enjoying nature, campfires, hiking and outdoor activities we love the state parks.

FW has to be at the top of my list for many reasons. I think that any comparison is apples and oranges. The Fort's unique. It offers things that no other campground can. Of course I do take the TT to a State Park now and then. When I do, half the time someone will take note of the FW decals and ask if we work for Disney. Then they tell their story of a past or future trip of thier own to the Fort. :)

of course it's my favorite but it's not just a "campground" it's my home away from home :lovestruc

Our family camped there in the late 50's. IIRC...a hurricane hit while we were there. I was only like 4 or 5 years old, but I have vivid recollections of being awakened by my mom in the middle of the night and standing in knee deep water. I don't remember if my folks salvaged the camping equipment or if we just left it behind & boogied out of there & back to Buffalo. I do remember some sort of boardwalk cutting thru the dunes to get to the beach and visiting Mystic to see the ships. Al would have better memories of this trip as he would have been around 12 at the time.

Yup, pretty close. Of course knee deep water was only about 3 inches but other than that pretty close. We packed up everything and got out before any real strong winds hit. That was a neat park though. I remember that each site had individual out houses and the work crews came through and emptied them almost daily - honey dippers!

The Fort isn't our favorite campground overall, but it is our 2nd favorite. And even if someone would give is a free suite in one of the deluxe resorts then I know my family would still prefer to stay at the fort.

Our favorite campround is Willowtree Rv Resort in Longs SC which is near Myrtle Beach SC.

Sites are huge and is isn't crowded. Lots to do and very quite. (A hard combination to find).

I have photos posted on another thread:

It is also closer to home and cheaper for the total vacation.

The Fort is probably our favorite campground but to far away to go often. Our other favorite and the one we have visited most often is in Destin. I am not giving the name anymore ;) because it is getting very hard to get a reservation there.
